How far is too far?

Intruder, you obviously failed to read on further....

It was a lot of reading to be honest. I can't keep track of all of the side bars as much as I should. If memory serves, I think I said something along the lines of you guys already working it out. I was simply reiterating for everybody that I don't think every word of the Bible is etched in realism. Jesus told parables to make things easier to understand for example.

I truly apologize for offending you. It was not my intention to belittle you in any way. I have never been under the impression that I know / understand everything about the Bible better than anybody else. (In fact, I know that I don't. I have questions all the time) It is an unfortunate part of debate though, when a person presents their arguments with confidence, it can come across as arrogance. My wife and I talk all the time about things we see differently. No arguments, just discussion. Sorry again.

Justify what you said then.

Excuse me? :smiley24:

So the Old Testament is irrelevant then and the laws God gave people in that was a mistake? Guess he isn't perfect then!

Maybe it is a perfect two stage plan. ;)

At this point, I'll settle for you believing me that the Bible doesn't condone the murder of gay people. :)

I'm not here to win. I'm here to correct what I see as misconceptions about a particular religion I'm very fond of. :)

And your views are intelligent, well founded, well researched and appreciated, at least by me.

Thanks for adding to the official record BTW. :D

I mean this as no insult to anyone, I just have a hard time dealing with the concept that atheism is any less radical of a view point than faith.

LS1, of course this is not aimed at you, the lines in red are yours, now I am making a point to support you...If you can imagine us being onthe same footing:D

Okay back to it, to paint an entire faith based effort with the same brush is unfair, and a sign of true ignorance.

Some of the most forgiving, tolerant, loving and good folks I have come across in my life have been followers of some type of faith, be it Baptist, Methodist, Episcopal...Hell even some Muslims I have met have really been loving people.

Faith for some is deeper than written word, than doctrine or congregation, it is a feeling of unity with something bigger than yourself, with something that helps you in your ofetn times struggle with inner demons to help make you a better person, to participate in the brotherhood of humanity.

To acost that drive, to perpetuate negativity towards that is no less intolerant than the very same text some think is not only foolish and outdated, but violent and hateful.

I support those of faith because they are most times, willing to stand for not only what they believe in, but also what lies in the greater good for humanity.

If you choose to give into it or not, we all have a common bond, all of us, we are essentially of the same race...The human race.

The only victors in that race are the ones who realize that they have to help others across the finish line to save themselves.

*steps off podium*

My final post in this thread:)

Intruder, I apologize for getting snippy with you, I never meant to.....I let some personal things get in the way of my normally very calm and practical way of debating in here....I totally understand what you were saying, I just chose to be a bitch about it. Sorry again!

Can you prove that homosexuality is more dangerous that heterosexuality?

I don't understand what you're saying.....

.....are you trying to say that it would have been better for Him to have things continue the way that they were instead of trying to be forgiving?

.....Although, I have to say, it may have been a better idea if He'd left things as they were.....the world would be a very different place.
No, I'm saying the idea of a "perfect god" being a genocidal maniac at one point then totally changing his mind and becoming is happy-go-lucky deity is silly and paradoxical.

I have a ? Something I have been pondering lately. I have a Jewish friend who does not celebrate Christmas, but will only accept presents from me. My ? is this if you claim to be Athiest do you celebrate Christmas in the sense that you give or receive presents on Christmas day?

my parents never taught me anything about religion as a kid. (which I thank them for often) When I was older, I wondered what church was like. I went on my own, and I thought it was a total load of bullshit. Since then I havent set foot in a church, nor do I want to. Just not my thing.

HAHA It's all good homie. It's good to keep people on their toes once in awhile. ;)

BTW, LMAO @ "I just chose to be a bitch about it." :24::24: I've SOOO don't that before. :P

I can't believe you're actually serious about this. For gay men, the threat of STD's and the possibility of an early death is very very real. :confused:confused

What percentage of AIDS patients do you suspect are gay men vs. everybody else combined? I'm sure you can look it up.

:24: Yeah, I have my moments! I went back and re-read what I wrote to you and I was like "GOD! I sound like a total BITCH!" :24:

It's all good! :D

Well, seeing as how its not really the real date of the supposed Christ, I don't see the 25th as Christmas at all. I just call it the new year, and yes, I will except cash and shiny things.

....thats the case for anyone who is sexually promiscuous....

Just because there MIGHT be more gays with AIDS/HIV doesn't mean the lifestyle is inherently dangerous. That just means the person was either not careful or didn't care.

Weak. There is no "MIGHT" about it. Why don't you look up the numbers, and then tell us again how it's no more dangerous than straight sex.
