Agreed,
Isnt that what he is supposed to do....keep an eye on the place report suspicious people walking around in the rain that he doesnt recognize

Exactly. But the most important point is - that is ALL he supposed to do. Report it. NOT follow them, confront them, carry a weapon, "investigate" things, etc. Some or all of those are things GZ did that overstepped his boundries.

Re: YOUR Treyvon Martin theory - what exactly happened?

I could be wrong but I believe the claim he uttered the word coon is something that came out weeks after the incident. The race issue then was well entrenched in the discussion by this time.

I saw a clip on tv a week or so ago where they played the tape and were trying to determine what he said. I missed the beginning of the tv clip so did not know what word they were talking about. They played it several times and I had no clue what he was saying. Then they commented about it possibly being coon. I would not have picked that word up from the tape.

When I first heard about the story it sure did seem to be a case of a crazy white man attacking a young boy. That was how the press portrayed it. Only after it hit the fan did it come out this was not a boy but a man. Anybody over 6' in height is physically a man. Also the reports were Zimmerman was 250 lbs. Which turned out to be about 70 lbs over his actual weight. Then they use a 5 year old mug shot of Zimmerman.

I get the fact a young man died unnecessarily. But one would have to be blind to not see how this was originally played in the press.

One of the very first things released was GZ's call to 9-1-1. It was on that call that the comment in question was made.

And I absolutely agree that the media (as usual) has taken on the role of deciding what story they want to tell - regardless of fact or accuracy, and with no regard to any problems they may create.

MSNBC is reporting that the the Sanford PD uncovered enough evidence to charge him. The announcement is expected at 6pm eastern tonight.

Now the question is whether or not the people that have been his ardent supporters around here are going to dismiss it as a conspiracy against him. Now wouldn't that be the height of hypocrisy. ;)

Ouch ... Yeah I have been reading a lot of updates going on. Something about him contacting Sean Hannity and his lawyers are quitting. I also found a support website that he created where people can donate money to him via paypal.

Things are just looking worse and worse for Zimmerman.

I vote for a trial.

I wouldn't be surprised if he is truly loosing his mind ...

uh, he's going to get a trial since he is now charged with something.

and charges mean nothing really he's still presumed innocent

.... oh ... duh! For some reason I didn't register the "he has been charged."

... and yes we know that he is still presumed innocent until found guilty. I didn't say let's hang him.

Being charged with something doesn't ensure that there will be a trial, it simply means that they believe they have probable cause to charge him with the death of Trayvon Martin as something other than self-defense. Being charged does mean something, like I just said... it means that there was sufficient evidence that a crime was committed. Pretty basic stuff.

I really don't envy the process of potentially selecting a jury in this. There has been a media circus in both directions for short of two months, not many people will be impartial to this case.

What do you think of the 2nd degree charge? Seems steep, idk...might be hard to convict.

I completely agree with all of this. 2nd degree is pushing it a bit--unless the prosecution has some amazing piece of evidence. It will be tough to convict.

Even tougher to get an impartial jury.
