If Rush has lost his way so much with conservatism, why would conservatives ask him to speak at CPAC? Also, take a look at this.

McClatchy Poll: El Rushbo is One of the Most Popular People in the Country

He got that popular because conservatives like what he says.
Rush is a famous guy with a huge following. If CPAC thought they could get Oprah to speak, she'd be on the docket. The P is for political. They want back in power, full stop. The Republican Party shifts with the winds of opinion as surely as any other political person or entity. It's about power and compromise. Neither the Democratic Party nor her siamese twin the Republican Party are good for America - not the America envisioned by our Forefathers.

Because they have nobody else. CPAC was an absolute joke. The straw pole they had showed Sara Palin as their number 5 pick to be president in 2012... give me a break. They also stated that the number 3 fear they had was Obama bringing back the fairness doctrine. Are you serious? Number 3 of problems in this country?

Choices:
1. The Bafoon (RL) for President- an absolute joke and the conservative party sinks farther into obscurity.
2. The masses decide upon mass suicide and elect him- absolutely terrifying.

Which will it be? :D

Yeah what could be worse.

Al Franken aka Stuart Smalley runs for the dems when the masses get fed up with Obama :24::24:

I like the irony of the name of this thread being changed to Patriots in exile club, wanting your President and thus your country to fail dosen't seem very patriotic to me.

It doesn't follow that Obama's failure means the country's failure, so your 'thus' is misplaced. Indeed, if Obama succeeds in all his stated goals the US would fail as THE bastion of individual liberty and self-determination.

That whack job? :eek

Oh my GOD- I'll take Rush over him. At least Rush makes me go "Hmmmmm..." every so often. Beck just makes me damn glad it's still illegal to burn heretics.

For those of you who did not see this: Why Rush is Wrong written by conservative David Frum. It's a good article that discusses why Limbaugh's approach is wrong for the Republican Party and what the Party needs to do to find their way back.

Limbaugh saying he hopes Obama fails:
"I'm thinking of replying to the guy, "OK, I'll send you a response, but I don't need 400 words. I need four: I hope he fails." …"

See, here's the point: everybody thinks it's outrageous to say. Look, even my staff: "Oh, you can't do that." Why not? Why is it any different, what's new, what is unfair about my saying I hope liberalism fails? Liberalism is our problem. Liberalism is what's gotten us dangerously close to the precipice here … I would be honored if the Drive-By Media headlined me all day long: "Limbaugh: I Hope Obama Fails." Somebody's gotta say it.
Notice that Limbaugh did not say: "I hope the administration's liberal plans fail." Or (better): "I know the administration's liberal plans will fail." Or (best): "I fear that this administration's liberal plans will fail, as liberal plans usually do." If it had been phrased that way, nobody could have used Limbaugh's words to misrepresent conservatives as clueless, indifferent or gleeful in the face of the most painful economic crisis in a generation. But then, if it had been phrased that way, nobody would have quoted his words at all—and as Limbaugh himself said, being "headlined" was the point of the exercise. If it had been phrased that way, Limbaugh's face would not now be adorning the covers of magazines. He phrased his hope in a way that drew maximum attention to himself, offered maximum benefit to the administration and did maximum harm to the party he claims to support.

Regarding Limbaugh being mad when other conservatives say the conservative movement needs to be redefined:
Here is an example of the writing Limbaugh was complaining about: The conservatism we know evolved in the 1970s to meet a very specific set of dangers and challenges: inflation, slow growth, energy shortages, unemployment, rising welfare dependency. In every one of those problems, big government was the direct and immediate culprit. Roll back government, and you solved the problem.
Government is implicated in many of today's top domestic concerns as well … But the connection between big government and today's most pressing problems is not as close or as pressing as it was 27 years ago. So, unsurprisingly, the anti-big-government message does not mobilize the public the way it once did.

Did anyone see Geitners address to Congress yesterday?

He was speaking about Congress giving Obama the authority to go into corporations and take private documents if they are suspected of "not acting in the best interest of the public financially" and determining salary caps for executives.

He was asked by a congresswoman "Where in the Constitution does it say you can have this authority"

He said "I am acting under the authority of this congress"

She said "Where does it say Congress can give you this authority?"

He stared......And repeated himself about twenty times until she finally gave up and said "I guess you won't answer my question because you can't"

:24: :24:

Man that guy is a real winner...Great pick

His power grab is unbelievable. Or rather his attempt. That would end up in the courts and they will stop the nonsense.

Hell Allen, at this point I am just glad someone stood up in congress and said "Wait the fuck a minute"

There needs to be a voice of reason somewhere, I do not find it surprising that it was a woman either, that's something I can say about women, they are typically not easy to exploit, and usually only buy into thier own fanaticism:p

Seriously though, anyone who thinks what's happening with these attempts is okay has no idea how this country was founded.

Government intervention is the WORST thing you can do. Create a panel, an oversight no problem. Walk into a coporation and tell them they can't pay a CEO that much.....A private, or even a publicly traded company???? You're fucking kidding.

Why don't they rifle through the hundreds of thousands of government workers and determine who the government is paying too much:eek

There wouldn't be even a mail carrier left:24:
