Seems like the thing to do....Let's tak strategery

Is our beloved party in fact moving towards centrist?

If McCain hadn't have sold his soul to the devil, would he be our new president?

Why didn't the McCain who did the awesome concession speech show up while he was campaigning?

The center seems like a better place to be. We need to be more open minded about change, as well as actually 'hearing' the other side and pondering it, instead of being so staunch in our views. In my minds eye, if we all meet in the middle (the center), we could make a bigger, faster difference in this country.

United we stand. Divided we fall.

It's a good point....However, I see no reaon for us to toally give up our core conservative values, that's an issue that I have a problem with.

However, some of those core values have nothing to do with effective governing, and that's what needs to be noticed.

Guns, Religion and Abortion need to be tossed to the side for a while and we need to get down to what is actually going to turn this thing around?

Another issue is that a vast majority in congress that are dems, are so far left leaning that unfortunately I cannot help but think that rather than actually try to turn things around, we the people will suffer because they want to that thier new found power around the block a few times, rather than say "hey...you know what? we can be part of something HUGE"

you been around Eggy too long :D

I always knew you had some hippie in ya :D

We need to get rid of the religious right running the republican platform.

Til that happens there will always be the tug back and forth trying to control the party.

meanwhile i take solace in the fact we are as close as we ever will be to get pot legalized. :24:

I voted for Obama, but McCain's concession speech was great. I don't know why he did not let that side show up during the election. Would have been alot harder to decide imo

I loved the McCain of earlier days, he was a real pit-bull and ironically labled as the "Furthest left" of all chamber republicans.

He had at one time a vision, but in the end he thought he had to seel out to the far right base to get the nomination, I personally think all he had to do was be himself, that what the people wanted....What showed up was a slick polished Bush Republican, sorry but that's what I saw.

Mudslinging and hate mongering...

Re: The Conservatives In Exile Club

And while we're on the topic of hardline conservatism here's a theory I have:

Bill Clinton is to blame for Bush getting elected, and here's why.

Bill was so approachable, he had the great million dollar smile, that good ole boy mannerism, he appeared human, like a guy down the street. He wore a fucking Timex Ironman watch for crying out loud.

By the end of his 8 years, the nation had grown accustomed to his swagger. Up came GW and Al.....Let's face it, GW had the same persona, hell he even wore a Timex (coincidence..well then you don't know Rove)

He mad Al Gore look and sound like a college Physics proffessor, I mean Al had NO fucking personality, the nation wanted substance, character and GW has that, he might no be a "natural" leader, or very popular now, but by shoving Al Gore into the limelight GW was obviously the personality.

That's the problem with VP's, they spend so much of the time behind the scenes, we never really get to know them, so all of a sudden we do and think "Fuck...no wonder this guy never gets camera time, he could put a whole ward of meth addicts to sleep"

So Clinton fans...You've nobody to blame but yourselves :)

You can thank me later for this pearl

yes thats true... i liked him until he decided to not be himself. Had he have separated himself from the Bush way he probably would have been elected...or at least done better in the votes.

But see, we don't have to give up our core conservative values. It's all about being open minded. The middle ground is where peace will be found, while hanging on to our values, as well as allowing others to hang on to theirs.

As it stands now, this country, as a whole is on board with change. We need to fix the economy, healthcare, energy and get the hell out of the war. So, if we all agree on that, is the way we go about accomplishing those things the issue? Nope. It's about fixing it. Disagreeing on the journey is ok, but it's the end result that matters.
