The full quote is as follows:

In addition, the study found that 50 percent of all bankruptcy filings were partly the result of medical expenses.9 Every 30 seconds in the United States someone files for bankruptcy in the aftermath of a serious health problem.
So 50% are not the result of medical expenses (even partial ones).

Of the alleged 50% that have medical expenses partially (if they owe $100 buck is that partial?) (nice weasel word) how many had health insurance but still filed bankruptcy? By the way, if you believe the first statistic (by using partial) you justify the second statement by dividing half of all bankruptcies into 365 day year.

I can state that 100% of bankruptcy are because people owe more money than they have. :D

When it comes to sub-prime loans, the MONUMENTAL amount of complicit fraud is mind boggling.
There is no question that on the bank side their was bull shit going on.

But that should not mean that people over extending themselves should get off the hook.

I think this latest crap to bailout some homeowners is bull shit. It is buying time. Let the damn system collapse instead. It is utter nonsense what the friggin idiots are doing.

It will be interesting to see what is in store for us 10 years down the road.

I heard the hoots when he said "a bill without earmarks". There is definitely some non stimulating programs in there. Might they be good programs? Maybe, and although they won the election, the point of the bill is to stimulate the economy, not give the Democratic party a free day in the candy store. I take issue with their choices of non-stimulus spending. :smiley24: However I think the Republicans have overstated the amount of so-called "pork" in the bill. They look disfavorably on anything that does not go directly to business owners, fat cats, and large corporations.

Why'd you quote my post if you're not going to refer to it at all?

You posted a link to "what was wrong with Obama's speech". I commented on Obama's speech. And you posted the link without any significant comment. Is it that hard? (and that is all I could come up with prior to reading the link.) :) My question is did his speech not get internally fact checked before he made it?

* He should have said, "we've imported more oil in the last 10 years than we've ever imported before in any similiar period". I regard a high level of energy importing as bad.

* Speculative home buyers should not be rewarded. If the program can't distinguish I would have an issue with that.

* And whether there is a bankruptcy due to health care every 30 sec or every 60 seconds, the difference is negligible, but obviously it's better when he has his facts straight.

On to our next topic....Here's another problem with political conservatism:

Anytime Republicans get mentioned.....Here's the images the media uses

For some of you, you might like one or all of them....To me NONE of the actually represent what Conservatism is, they found a way to make money telling you how horrible Democrats are. That fixes nothing

We need to let these assholes know that they do not represent us..They represent themselves

The problem is there are no conservative leaders out their worth listening to.

None in congress anyway. Ron Paul was demonized and his day has passed. So it leaves the above mouth pieces who get the attention.

There is no way the reps will get control of the house or senate in 2 years as they did with with Clinton. I think it will take at least a couple of years plus of Obama fucking things up before enough people get pissed off. The bash Bush will work that long. So it means we will have 4 years of uncontrolled crap from the left.

The only reason and I mean only reason McCain needed to win was to control this out of control shit. He would not have been a good conservative but at least you would not have this crap being crammed down our throats

I think with McCain there would be a balance of power, and I honestly think he would have tried to merge the sides for the common good.

I think the Dems want a Coup

I've never liked Coulter. Her smarmy remarks piss me off too much to even check if I agree with her or not. The other two are just anti-Democrat spinmasters. I can't listen to them anymore.

I couldn't agree more. I believe in attacking policy, not people. We can always disagree on policies, but attacking personalities just stirs negative emotion.

They to me have become the Howards Sterns of political talk radio

Have you actually listened to Rush? Do you realize how many millions of americans listen to him because he speaks the conservative mind? Not to mention that some democrats listen to him and he has turned some democrats into republicans through his radio show. He is doing more good for the conservatives (republican party) than ANYBODY in Washington.

Don't equate conservatives with the republican party. They're not synonymous. Changing from Dem to Repub is like turning the plate so that the meat is on the other side and calling it a diet.

I wasn't trying to say they are one in the same. The point still holds though because republicans are mainly seen as being conservative. To be more specific I should have said republican party.

He has become a caricature who does more harm now a days than good for the party. He is too full of himself like Hannity. As a result some of the good ideas get lost in the fog of the rest of their bull shit bitching about liberals.

Hannity & Rush were both Bush apologists until Bush totally gave up the helm, opened the vaults and put his hands in his pockets. While they are still to the right of the Left, they've lost their way.
