It hasn't happened BECAUSE the Second Amendment has been in place. Why do you even give a shit? It's old. Go back and play with your toys and leave these conversations to the adults.

Seriously..

In countries where there is no "Second type of Amendment" has it stopped the people from rising against their government ?

are you friggin serious

Hitler, Stalin and Mao slaughtered a combined millions once they disarmed their societies

How did that work out for them?

They all lost and died..

I am not one to say handguns should not be permitted but semi automatic guns have no place in society..

They are war machines and war machines alone as they are not for hunting and made to kill lots of people and that alone.

define semi automatic

are you including the semi auto hand guns or just the semi automatic rifles

I don't know where to find a credible source but I would hazard a guess that number of gun deaths by semi auto rifles pales when compared to hand guns

That's exactly why you have a problem.. Any gun related record would cause the NRA to go ballistic if it were public. Trying to find such a record is extremely hard.. It may be out there, by a private research firm, but with all the garbage spouted to make white noise good luck finding it.

I am not a gun nut but just mentioned that I would like to see what the statistics are.

It appears you want to ban the hand guns too that are semi automatic? I have a 9mm semi auto handgun and a six shooter revolver. If both are loaded and ready to shoot is there really that much of a difference? Sure one can put in another clip way faster than reloading a revolver but the vast majority of gun deaths are not where guys are loading clip after clip. The massacres hit the headlines and make news but that is a blip on the radar compared to the rest of the gun deaths.

Allen, the you go again..

I already said I believe in self protection and that people should be allowed a gun.

Like I said in a previous post, in Canada most people do not carry a handgun but you can request one and it will be granted.. You can buy and get a hunting riffle no problem.. I have no issue with that. But what are classified as semi automatic are not legal.

Huh??

I already said I believe in self protection and that people should be allowed a gun.
Did I state otherwise?

Like I said in a previous post, in Canada most people do not carry a handgun but you can request one and it will be granted..
Are you talking about a concealed permit or just for keeping at home?
Are you inferring that a ton of Americans walk around in public with legally owned hand guns? If so that is not the case. Sure there are some that have concealed permits. But there are also areas where is is tough to get one.

You can buy and get a hunting riffle no problem.. I have no issue with that. But what are classified as semi automatic are not legal.
you cited the Wiki article which references semi auto handguns. Are you including those or are they legal to purchase with a permit?

Not all places are like Texas where it is easy to buy a handgun. My two hand guns I had to get permits which included getting finger printed and approval to purchase.

Oh..so sorry....I thought you were talking about current truths, not the historical ramblings of the pro-gun lobby.

THE ARMED UPRISING AGAINST A TYRANNICAL AMERICAN GOVERNMENT OF THE FUTURE IS A BIG PILE OF BULLSHIT.

In the 220 plus years since the Second Amendment was written, it's never happened, and the Second Amendment has proved to be a worthless piece of outdated feelgood crap.. If the NRA and any other faux libertarians had the balls to match their big talk, it might conceivably been used to challenge some of Bush's excesses......but then the average gun owner is far more likely to be Republican, and far more likely to get suckered into the dogshit that Bush wrapped in the American flag and ironically called the Patriot Act.

Perhaps you should study up a bit before you spout off!

Outstanding find, JM! :clap
Of course this piece of history isn't within shooting distance of any school textbook. The gov't doesn't want to teach student who is really in charge.

Bill Mayer made a profound observation on last Friday's show- all the gun nuts are worried about loosing the Second Amendment, when that will never happen, but they are oblivious about all of our privacy rights slipping away...

I agree. This bipartisan "Patriot" Act *spits* and continued expansion of background checks are the more immediate problems. But the two are intertwined, since the privacy invasion du jur is specifically to violate the Second Amendment.

Most folks don't know of the billions of our tax dollars being spent to develop the computerized systems whose goal is to track us in a multitude of ways. Between that and the absolute curtailment of communications that was tested last year they are definitely in a position of control over the minions. A gun grab will allow the total control that many fools can't see developing.

I remember my 7th grade history teacher using it as a lesson back in the mid 60's. He taught me more about our rights than anyone I ever encountered. At the time he along with my dad were shunned by many for driving a VW. Today's students don't get the objective real life teaching we were blessed with.

You just keep on reading your liberal pacifist bullshit. It suits you well but adds nothing to the conversation other than to prove your ignorance.

Thanks...I love it when people choose to avoid the debate and then try to imply that I'm ignorant. I take it as confirmation that they know damn well that my argument is totally validated, but they're too far up their own @$$ to admit it.

Study is something that I never intend to give up.Trivia is not exactly my specialist subject. I'll concede that you've taken the absolute out of my argument by finding this needle in a haystack, but a smalltown squabble that went unresolved due to more important issues is hardly a second American revolution, is it?

Yup, in over two hundred years one tiny smalltown spat that flows against the truth should be in every school textbook. The world is desperately short of history for the period 1939-1945. It's good that the NRA keeps this little piece of parish news alive, albeit in such a dramatised version. I'm sure there are very few people still alive who were there and have an understanding of the facts behind this small town family feud.
