Like our ability to love, to think, to question and last but not least, to merely exist.

All of this is explainable through science and reason. There is no mystery about life anymore. We evolved. We are the living end of the vast universe. How does that show you God exists?

Take love, for example. Other animals can love too. This doesn't show anything about God, nor about us being his special creations.

I can go all blonde on you and talk about how wise God was to give us arms so that our hands wouldn't dangle from our shoulders but I won't.....

Good because it's utter nonsense. Evolution gave us arms.

A question to believers:

We know that the Earth is 4.5 billion years old. And that life started on Earth over 65 million years ago. We are the pinnacle of the evolution that took place over that period.

With this knowledge, how can we possibly believe documents that claim God made the Earth in 6 days? Or that He created man?

I read what you said, and understood perfectly. So YOU were born where you were for a reason, yet the starving kids weren't? That is what you're saying now.

Yes there are some mentions of Jesus, though not any of the miracles he performed. Tacitus wasn't alive at the time, so he was basing a lot of his work on second hand material of questionable origins.

You'd have thought that the miracles surrounding Jesus would have been recorded, no? Kind of weird they were overlooked, don't you think? Not to mention the whole son of God thing...

The account in Tacitus points to Jesus being something of a violent revolutionary if anything.

Lol yeah its only extraordinary proof for religious believers. Secular history doesn't see it the same way.

So the question is, on what do you base your belief that he was the son of God, fed 5000 people with a couple of bits of fish, rose from the grave, healed the sick etc etc?

The question of Jesus existing is still highly debatable, let alone the far-fetched descriptions in the religious texts.

Just the same, the question of his non-existance is just as debatable.

When I'm in a stable and happy relationship I guess, when I feel the time is right and I'm ready for the responsibility and when I know I can fully provide for that child's needs.

No, I'm not wealthy. Right now, I'm well below the poverty line.

Of course, now we're getting somewhere.

You see, the issue is so questionable, yet believers talks in 100% absolutes about all facets of religion. That makes no sense when the premise of that is so highly debatable.

I mean, I'm willing to admit there very well be a God somewhere. Are you willing to admit there is a higher chance that there isn't one?

You are still missing the point, obviously. Everyone was born into their situation for a reason. And that reason is STILL, as I've said now TWICE, the millions of steps in the reproduction process that took place. All I'm saying, Ed, is that it's not luck that any of us were born into the situations we were born into. The reproductive process is not luck, it's not random.

Continue to misconstrue my point to further whatever argument you're making here and I'm not going to waste my time with this anymore. I'm tired of having to try and restate what I'm saying because you're trying to twist my words. It's getting old.

What if that time came tomorrow....you meet a great girl, fall in love and get married.....you may not be wealthy but would you put off having a family because of it? And what if it just happened...what would you do?

Read any scientific books on evolution. Take an evolutionary biology class. Learn something about science. It's all there, it's publicly available to all.

No. That's how certain I am about God.

No I'm getting the point. You're saying everyone was born into their situations for a reason.

Ergo, the starving kids around the world were born to starve?

That isn't twisting your words, btw, it's simply taking your logic and applying it to others. Or are you saying that this rule is just for you?

And that reason is STILL, as I've said now TWICE, the millions of steps in the reproduction process that took place. All I'm saying, Ed, is that it's not luck that any of us were born into the situations we were born into. The reproductive process is not luck, it's not random.

Ok now I'm lost. So the "reason" is these millions of reproductive steps?

That's not a reason, that's a process.

By the way, there are millions of sperm all racing to get to one egg in human reproduction. There is most certainly an element of luck and chance.

I did in Sunday School. I'd rejected the notions by the time I was about 6 or 7.

Then I started learning about science, which has disproved all of the claims in the Bible.

No. That's how certain I am about God.

Ok so you're saying you're 100% closed minded?

I can here because there is absolutely no way on earth anyone can ever prove the bible is 100% fact. If it happened it happened far too long ago for ANYONE to prove it. Case closed.

Not at all, I'm saying that I'm 100% sure.

How can anyone possibly believe the bible stories? If you want to believe in God... fine. But if you truly believe Noah built an ark big enough to house every species of every animal on the planet and feed them for 40 days, etc, then you may want to have a brain scan. Just saying. :D
