It's easier to listen to differing opinions when the other side isn't calling you insane or comparing your beliefs with those of Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny...lol
you got that right too, sweet cheeks.

discussions of religion and politics is a sport. i don't give a shit personally what anybody's belief system (BS) is about. we're all individuals. we all have free will. there are plenty of options to choose from. not everybody is going to make the same selections.

time, space, matter and energy are what they are and interact with each other the way they do. why they do it, or who makes them do it is more than i want to know. just living in it takes all my available focus.

this is a very enjoyable sport when the players can state their cases clearly and argue against contrary positions logically and without a bunch of ad hominem or straw man fallacies.

I dont think there are too many people who hate god, more that they just dont see any evidence that he even exists.;)

I agree.

Ohhhh I beg to differ Peter. There are a lot of people out there who, not only believe in God, they also blame him for everything that's gone wrong with their lives. They hate the very mention of His name.

But these are people who believe in God, not those who disbelieve. So you can't really point a finger at the Atheists and Agnostics who don't hate something they don't believe or are not convinced it exists. However, you could argue some of them might hate believers who try to shove their views down everyone's throats. Not saying that is you or anyone in particular. ;)

where does someone like myself fit into these characterizations?

i believe that there are a whole lot of critters in this universe of equal or greater evolutionary stature than ourselves and that our planet has been quarantined because of mismanagement of the world by these gods and demons the churches blabber about.

i was raised in the american reconstructionist reform hebrew congregations and i'm comfortable with that theology -- to a point and usually add a little native american shamanism and tibetan buddhism into my mix.

Why should petty humans vie for God to stoop to their lower level??? If ever ''God were to make his existence known then there''' would be a whole world of gods quareling worse than humans are doing now or have done ever before!
A Human god has always been a true face of a Tyrant, a Buffoon who causes Holocausts!
And who wants that?? No one, I believe.

now, now, be fair to the parents of your DNA, you mutant, retarded spawn of aliens. :D:sarcasm:D

they aren't all like that and the ones who do, aren't like that all the time. the bit about turning the girl into a cow so he wouldn't get in trouble with his old lady for boinking her was about as sleazy a thing as anybody has ever done.

the part where the overlords stepped in, separated the combatants and left the world to heal has either been left out or obliterated from the surviving prehistoric accounts and fables.

I enjoy discussing my beliefs with others, it gives me the opportunity to give to Him for a change instead of the other way around. Sure, it can be considered a sport.....heck, I've even been known to make some people sweat a little...lol

Well, I don't know. You don't sound like you hate God and you don't have traditional views. There is a pretty good argument that any quarantine we suffer as a planet has to do with the vast distances between solar system/galaxies. Warp speed maybe possible but... As far as mismanagement, I'd sugest that we are a species that might be going through typical growing pains for a species. :)

but you do seem to be obsessed by religious thought, aren't you??

Free will?? What's that?? Won't you pay your taxes if you willed not to?? Were you born where were at your own sweet WILL?? I think human WILL is kinda controlled by humans only!

just living in it takes all my available focus.

What do you have to say about other 'creation' in this regard.?? On the one hand you say you possess Will yet you seem to compare yourself to other vertebrates or invertebrates or the bios?????Sorry I can't get you clearly...

Clean up in aisle 3!!!

Seriously people? Could you not keep your flirting and drama to the off topic areas of the forum? I've given multiple warnings. Next time this happens it's going to be an infraction. :thumbdown
