And the voice of reason chimes in... again. ;)

"Cost method of doing business"? With one CEO on board? C'mon Darlin', you can do better than that.

Let all of the fat cats fly coach.

That should say "cost effective method of doing.....". That said, again, perception. Much more business can be done flying in a corporate jet than on a commercial airline. Hell you can't even use your cellphone on a commercial flight. You are actually at a business disadvantage flying commercial. But, I readily admit, its a matter of perception but I've seen the amount of business that gets done when executives can fly coast to coast on a corporate jet. Its like when you give a mid-level manager his or her first Blackberry, they are available almost 24/7 and they will respond to an email on a Saturday night. Its freaking amazing how much more productive that makes the mid-level manager (and the reason why their salaries are going up).

screw you Bitch!!

they should charter

:D

Charter my arse.

Listen here, bonzo... Let them live like the rest of the world. Purchase airline tickets... stand in lines to check their baggage... pay EXTRA like we do, for extra baggage... then make their way through security.

"Shoes off... empty your pockets. Ummm, excuse me, you set the alarm off... spread 'em." While the whole world watches.

I bet the fat cats change their ways in a big hurry!

no need for owning or leasing jets

one can get a charter

tis a bit different than than Pelosi needing one too.

apples and oranges

Most corporate jets are chartered. For business and legal reasons the corporation doesn't own the jets. They are owned by a subsidiary and leased to the main corporation ( and smaller ones as well).

There are corporate jets, and there are corporate jets of the kind you're describing.

I've personally flown on both types. The first time was a top of the line jet. When I was in upper management with the Hilton Corporation, a bunch of us took the company jet for the night, to New Orleans for an over night party. Holy shit, it was luxurious! Leather couches... gold faucets...several rooms...a full bar, with a bartender... ice sculptures adorned with cold boiled shrimp, caviar and the finest wine available. Makes me wonder right now just how much that cost. :ninja

The second experience was with Jack Henry and Associates. They flew us on their corporate jet as part of the Angel Network (when Tiff was sick). Most of the executives on the flight, were conducting business like you've described.

My point is that the Big 3, flew in on 3 different corporate jets to ask for a handout. Perception? I don't agree.

It was not meant to be funny

When the thing with the planes came out we had many local comments about how idiotic they were to fly in.

that they should have driven there in a caravan.

Chill out, bonzo, or yer gonna have a coronary. :ninja

Yes, they were/are idiots!

Did you see the CEO's when they were asked (by a show of hands) who would be willing to sell their jets?

"Let it be on the record, not one hand went up."

I have said they were idiots

as to the coronary?? ;)

MI is and has been way ahead of the curve on the economy compared to the rest of the country. My business is ready to go bust.

The industry I work in has been castrated by the state.

My great grandfather started in business over 110 years ago. I have downsized to the max. :eek

you sound like Wino :eek:nod:

I sound like Wino? :eek C'mere, lemme smack you! :willy_nilly: ;)

Sorry that your business is suffering, really. The sad truth is that there is nothing any of us can do to stop the madness. It's time to grab your ass with both hands and yell shit. :ninja

Don't forget, you had the where-with-all to bail outta the market a few months before the big hit. Peak on that. My ass stayed put and payed dearly. :willy_nilly:

We're all taking our lumps.

How long's a direct flight from Detroit to DC? An hour and a half? Come on. Hell, maybe these guys SHOULD be cut off from decision making for a few hours. Ain't gonna fuck up the company any more than it already is.

You can get a lot done in an hour and half. I once saw a man sentenced to death in an hour and half.

Sorry but it's this type of attitude that allows me to short like a mad man and come out smelling like a rose. You, Wino, Alien, Paq, Eggy and the like....you know the gloom and doom type are what drive the market, its fantastic to sit back, watch and pounce when an opportunity presents itself. One day you will all awake as if from a stupor and realize that the fundamentals of the economy are very sound and humming right along. Then all will be right with the world. In the mean time, there is money to be made. Moan and groan some more please......I mean about the stock market. :D ;)

If the economy is so sound then it would not have allowed the following:

Social Security that is a ponzi scheme destined to fail. It will run out of money unless it is dramatically changed which means people paying in longer and people getting less in benefits. The longer congress waits to act the worse it will be.

A banking system that failed due to greed on the part of bankers and the public.

A national debt that is increasing in greater numbers every year by leaps and bounds.

Manufacturing that has left the country leaving us reliant on others to supply goods.

Food being imported in greater numbers than ever each year with inferior products that are posing health risks. I bet 40 years ago we imported hardly any food.

Govt on state and federal levels that has a labor force that is far too great as a result of an expanded federal govt. that has done a power grab from the states.

A bloated auto business that is poised to collapse due to the credit crunch and poor management.

A tax system that unfairly rewards some businesses by giving them incentives to bring them into a state while existing businesses get no such relief.
