Actually, originally it was "big fucking deal" but I thought that might be too harsh

The fact is this thread has really run it's course and really has nothing to do with the original topic. We could argue back and forth over the issue on what orders you're allowed not to follow while you're in the military, but it would contribute nothing to the original thread (unless you wanted to start another thread on that topic).

This thread running way off it's course has helped me in one area however. Personally, I happen to think that the United States should have mandatory military service, and this hijacked thread is another reason as to why

We have several gay threads on the go right now and all of them are really popular for some reason, especially to people who claim to disagree with being gay (whatever the fuck that means) for some reason. They are exxagerationg. there are juvinile camps that say they can help homosexuals and parents take their homosexual children there against their will. Just like parents take their drug addicted kids to detox centers against their will, or ill behaviored children get taken to behavioral modification programs against their will

I have stated this before. Homosexuality is a behavior, just like stealing, violence or sucking your thumb. It can be taught, learned, rejected etc. Your not born gay. Regardless, i may not approve of their homosexual behavior but they are still human beings. They bleed like I do, cry when they are sad like I do, and smile when they are happy...like i do. I understand that concept. What your not understanding is i have enough of a headache worry about my FRIENDS, my FAMILY and my PLATOON. Death is a re-occuring theme for me in those 3 groups for me. I cant get hung over death, because i have people to take care of. I am busy dealing with death in MY FRIENDS, FAMILY, and PLATOON i cant afford to waste time worrying about insignificant people that dont affect my life in any way, shape or form...like homosexuals for example.

There are plenty of studies out there that would both suggest this to be true and then there are plenty of studies out there to suggest biological factors to be the root. There is no "golden" egg out there. So, to say he is being ignorant is merely an opinion, which members here are full of them. :thumbup

Are they valid, unbiased studies? No, and that makes a difference.

How would you know if they are valid/not valid? There are a lot of studies of twins, and those are the interesting ones to note, although they are probably skewed based on the pool.

If you know of some valid, peer reviewed studies that say homosexuality is a learned behavior, I'd be interested to check them out. Not those claiming that there are environmental components to human sexuality, but that you can be "made" gay.

I'd bet the have a religious organization funding them, if nothing else. In all of my education, with it's strengths and limits, I've not seen nor heard of valid evidence people are "made" gay.

I could have done a serious search but this is just one source supporting me. If there is a gay gene, and they are just born that way...then i bet there is pedophilia gene too. I mean pedophiles are probly just born that way too. So are Necrofiliacs. If theres a gene out there that determines the sex your attracted to, its only logical there are others out there that pick the age group your attracted to and whatnot.

I guess they should do a pedo gene research and let all the pedo's out because its not their fault. they are just born that way... sort of like the study that there is a criminal gene.

You've misinterpreted my statement.
Here are the most common schools of thought in human sexuality.

Proposal A:
All humans are born hard-wired to want to be in sexual/emotional relationships solely with those of the opposite sex. Their childhood experiences and socialization processes alone create homosexual behavior.

Proposal B:
Humans are born with any combination of hard-wired sexualities (gay, straight, bi, etc). Their childhood experiences and socialization processes merely shape the specific behaviors and extents to which these sexualities manifest and present (the verb, not the tense).

Proposal C:
Humans are born hard-wired to be solely gay, straight, or bisexual/pansexual. Their childhood experiences and socialization processes have no impact on their specific orientation.

Currently, there is little valid support for proposal A.
