Re: 92 yr. old WW11 vet kills home invader

You made a leap of logic here.

Just because something is legal, doesn't mean in any way that Kentucky sanctions it as the best course of action. Ditto for standing in the road.

He did what was safest for him..you cried there were other options..he took the safest one for his well being.

How you can relate to someone standing in a road way in traffic to the safest option available is merely an attempt to avoid actually discussing the topic at hand which is protecting yourself during an home invasion

Not playing this silly game with you again. We don't agree, deal with it.

You are the one having issue dealing with it...the state of Kentucky and others have no issue with the 92 year old defending himself during a home invasion

His door was already kicked in..they were inside.
Fire a warning shot?...like that will cripple or kill the criminal..perhaps make him shoot your ass.
Use logic here..some fucker kicks in your door you dont know if he is armed and with what...first shot wins.

The only thing that will ever change their thinking is when it happens to them or their loved ones. I bet they won't feel that way when thugs try to steal their last crumbs of food if SHTF. Be prepared and vigilant.

What I like is that Tim has the liberty to use more restraint than the man in the OP chose to. It's unfortunate that Kakapo is against such liberty.
Your way or the highway on this one, KD?

If it would of been my father doing the shooting, I would of slapped him over the head for not taking all three out.

Did the guy doing the shooting perhaps do some things wrong? Heck yeah. BUT... don't break into peoples home and you wont get shot.

I'm just curious if the caliber was a centerfire.

Not to mention the fear involved...3 people storming the house.
How people can be against this old man protecting himself is beyond me.

The old man did have a heart ..he let the other two live

Basically the 92 year old heard them, and then set up an "ambush".

Now, if the guy would of told the intruders that he had a firearm and he was going to use it if they still proceeded, and they still broke down the door to the living room, free and clear.

By his own account, he wasn't scared for his life.

I can see it being murder on his end.

Everyone is giving him a break due to his age.

I have read 2 articles on it..it all went down pretty fast.
He heard the noise where they entered in the basement...then went and grabbed a rifle...they kicked in the door {basement}..which actually means the upstairs where he was at.
He shot and killed one...the other two took out their friend where he died later.
Yes the old man was scared,,,thus why he grabbed the rifle, him saying he wasn't scared is just acting tough to the media.
I wouldnt have alerted the home invaders where I was at in the house either....yelling will have done just that.
"Hey the old man might have a gun...lets go and come back again after he falls back asleep"..or "we need to change our plan..go look in the windows and see where he is..cap the old guy"

The fact they kicked in the door pretty much means they prepared to do the old man harm....who would sleep through a door getting kicked in?...this wasnt an ordinary lets take the old mans stuff while he is asleep break in.

Its a good thing the old man heard them and was able to grab a rifle.

The old man had been getting ripped off badly prior from stolen cattle to firearms ...Good thing he obtained another rifle.

When I lived at a prior residence I was getting ripped off due to my location...the law was of no use.
I caught the little dick in my house and terrorized his punk ass for about three hours..from drinking dirty dish water to begging for his life...does this make me a criminal?.{not by law standard but by moral standard}
Not IMO..many of the items cant be replaced...stuff that was handed down through the family....as well as...
Autographs, promotional albums not available to the public, pictures of myself with various actors and actresses.
Phone records,Phone books with numbers in the back with personal phone numbers to the Attorney General, member of the house of representatives, prominent bands, some actors and actresses,comedians...hell even my birth certificate.
But what really pissed me off was some private photos of an individual whose career could be thoroughly damaged if made public.
If I had it to do all over again I would smash his fucking head and scatter his brain matter for insect feed

The scary thing is,I believe that you would. Anybody who behaves like this is just as much of a menace to society as a burglar.

How does that make me a menace?

You know KD you participate in many American threads that involve crime..You seem to always side with the criminal..Why is that?

You probably can't see it. Nobody in their right and normal mind would do what you suggested. It's very close to psychotic behaviour, and should be treated by trained psychiatrists.

Why do I participate in threads that involve crime? Because only the most controversial crimes ever make it to the debate threads. Man gets caught by police for burglary, man goes to court, gets a fair trial, goes to jail. No real story there. No problem, you do the crim,e, you do the time.

As far as I know there's no country in the civilised world that executes burglars. But unless every incident where a person is killed is challenged, we run the risk of returning to vigilante justice. Laws put in place to allow people to defend themselves must not be perverted into excuses to execute people in cold blood.

Criminal? Yes, it does.

But even worse is that fact you are a self described terrorist.
