He stopped that one and started it again with different settings this one is about 4 hours...

Yeah--the one that was going to last for 17 hours was on "Mulder" setting. Tell him to use "Alien Allen" settings and it will be done in 30 seconds!!! :24:

Here is the poop. XP is installed and this is how it happened:

- Disconnected primary 250GB drive with current Vista.

- Booted with the DBan floppy and fast nuked the Vista formatted secondary 500GB drive.

- Reconnected primary drive and booted with Vista.

- Ran Maxblast partition manager, created one 50GB partition on the secondary drive, did not format the partition.

- Disconnected primary drive and booted with XP installation disc. Used F6 floppy.

- Ran setup, which recognized the unformatted partition. XP recognized and auto-formatted the partition.

- XP installed sucessfully.

I will need to find some drivers. I can get high resolution graphics on XP but it doesn't recognize my monitor as wide screen so the display is distorted.

XP doesn't see the onboard NIC card. I also need sound drivers but Vista doesn't list a name for one. Audio device is listed with the TV card, which I also need drivers for.

He can't seem to find the network drivers...

He will try again tonight.. if he can't he's going to see if one of his cards will work. :surrender

Typical fucking socialist--he's helpless trying to do something on his own. Tell him to download Belarc:

Belarc Advisor - Free Personal PC Audit

He should have that on his computer anyway--its a great little program that tell you all the components you have--chances are good it will tell him what Intel Network Adapter model is in his computer--he can then just go to Intel's site and download the drivers. Probably one of these will work:

Intel® Desktop Ethernet Adapters

Ok--its got to be one of the first four in this link (the D945G) based on the Chipset:

Desktop Boards - Intel® Core™2 Duo processor-based boards

Just figure out which one it is and it has all the right drivers.

Christ Lumpy--I've had to do everything for you!!!!

Not everything, mouldy old dough! I didn't need your help when I married the best lady this country had to offer! :p

Yeah, I'm going to check out the Intel site because I'm learning that Gateway sucks when it comes to drivers. I got one for the XP video card and it was actually worse than the native XP drivers! :eek :D. They didn't even offer one for my onboard NIC card. If I can't find one I have a box of pci NIC cards. to recap, below are listed the drivers I need:

- Video card
- NIC card
- TV/audio card

This seems to apply to me:

If your board’s BIOS ID is not included on the code list, then your desktop board was manufactured for a specific OEM. Please contact that manufacturer for help with your board.

My board ID is: CF94510J.15A
