that is a sharp lookin desktop Jim :thumbup

I like a bunch of icons on mine though. for me it is more convenient :)

Yeah, that's the personal side of computing. What looks good is personal but how it performs is all important. I have no idea what your level of computer ability is so it's hard to talk specifics.

I have managed to find drivers for my TV card ---> :):thumbup

I can't find software to access the card properly --->:thumbdown :(

I went to this site: TV-cards.com*»*3rd Party Application Factsheets to try apps but they were all flawed. Some are only trial, some are primitive and some don't give sound. Some others don't recognize my tv card.
Because I'd like to help but do not want to read through the past 182 posts... what kind of TV card do you have?

Here it is: Vixs Pure TV-U 4899

As mentioned, I have the drivers. I can find tons of free software of all kinds on the 'Net. Why is TV card software so hard to find? :confused

My system was a long time in shutting down but I used these registry hacks. Try them if your XP is slow to shut down. Just remember that any registry change could possibly harm your system so don't fuck with regedit unless you know what you are doing.

Speed up Windows XP Shutdown

My shutdown times have gone from 25 seconds to 6 seconds.

Actually, you can fuck with regedit even if you don't know what your doing as long as you have XP because XP will automatically restore from the last know good configuration or if windows boots but is fucked up, just restore.

So--do a system backup--then you can hack the registry to your hearts content! ;)

Believe it or not, I am still learning XP - never used it before even thought I had it dual booted. I always used 2K, but now that I've got this I am slowly learning it and hacking away all the bloat, bells and whistles.

I went from 98 to XP and it was a major leap towards doing things easier.

so there was no regedit in 2k??

or was it the system restore you were talking about?

system restore is a great feature.

Yeah only ME and XP had system restore. My favourite system was 98 because you could call up a list of saved registries and choose one to reload. I have system restore turned off my XP.

Oh yeah! One thing I customized was the start button. You know how if you hover over it a little popup comes up saying click here to begin? That fucker annoyed the hell out of me for years but I fnally found out how to kill it and it isn't a registry hack either.
