I understand the concept Chris but what I am meaning is, Windows OS's operate on basically the same shell and verfy similar kernels every since GUI's came out. I'm no computer engineer or programmer but I don't think it is unrealistic to actually develop modules similar to service packs that add to the original kernel or shell and be sold as a package.
I loved W2K. I ran it for nearly 6 years so why should I be forced to replace it with XP merely to increase MicroSoft's bottom line? I would have been a much happier customer if they offered the module I proposed that simply upgraded my system. If you think about it, W98 wasn't anything more than a W95 upgrade but the change from 98 to 2000 and from XP to Vista were fundamental changes.
