i'll make this thread about my husband kicking your ass. :ninja

That reminds me. I was at a Marina Association recently and in one of the other meeting rooms at the convention center they were hosting a group of local school principals. The sign on the door simply read "Sexting and Cyber Bullying". I was thinking that sounded like a day around here.

and back on topic...guns, fuck yeah.

True to that!

Now wait for the liberals who come along and say that the constitution doesn't protect the individual's right to bear arms but rather allows the government to form a militia. :thumbdown

They can make that stupid argument all they want, but the only opinion that matters, namely SCOTUS, says that it is...

As odd as it sounds, that scenario happens pretty regularly. More than one thug has met his end at the hands of an armed homeowner that had time to retrieve, unsecure and load a weapon.
There is no way in hell there is enough time to get the weapon out of a safe, remove the lock, load the fucking thing and protect ones self never mind it happening pretty regularly. Those that have had the experience and survived did so because the weapon was not in a locked safe. To try and convince me otherwise would be outright foolishness. I came at night but it sure wasn't last night.

My position on the gun issue is simple.

Criminals will get their hands on guns regardless of the circumstances, whether they are banned or not. Thus all Americans should be allowed to defend themselves against an armed intruder, simple as that.
If your reasoning is correct there wouldn't be any real need to " carry " off ones property then. So why do so many of your states allow the carrying of a weapon outside their home and off their property? To beat them to the crunch so to speak?

A good gun safe is designed to be able to open quickly. It's not like a combination lock where you have to spin it 3 times left, 2 times right, then once left again or whatever. There's even biometric ones that read your fingerprints. Anybody worried about security will practice getting into a safe quickly and in the dark. Less than 10 seconds isn't unrealistic at all. As far as loading, if it's in a safe, it's not really a hazard to keep it loaded. And how long does it take to slap in a mag? 2 seconds? Also, if it's in a safe there's no need for a trigger guard either.

some dont even bother with a safe at all. i have nothing against guns if the person takes the extra effort to atleast lock it away in a safe place

Like with anything in life, responsibility is the key.

2 seconds sounds about right providing it doesn't have a trigger lock on it as does ( sorry I forgot who I first responded too ) ( insert name ).

I'm sure there have been a few inst instances where a homeowner has had the time to unlock a gun case.... maybe even a proper safe... retrieve and use the weapon in self defense but I'm sure in those rare inst instances the bad guys were attempting to get in and not yet actually successful.

When I owned my S & W 44 I kept it in a locked pistol case stashed in the bottom dresser drawer in my bedroom. The bullets were kept in a different location. Now I gotta tell you I've faced many an intimidating adversary in my day and never ran due to fear.... but if someone had busted my door down I know for a fact I wouldn't have been able to get the weapon together and would have relied on the two clubs attached to my body, one on the left shoulder and the other on the right. This is Canada though so it's the chance of facing a bad guy with a gun is very slim.
