Maybe God dying was the start of the Big Bang. He probably pulled the pin out of the hand grenade & threw it away, then looked down at the grenade still in hand & said "Uh O..." Then there was a huge explosion & so began the Universe that we all live in.

What if god had a god of his own.

Meh, I'm not convinced by the idea of God, so I don't believe the ideas i make myself, such as that one.

Yes.

I constantly read the Bible over and over and over.

My answer to your question would be of course, yes. God is God in the OT and in the NT. He does not change.

But in the N/T, he sacrifices his own son for us, so it claims......Sorry Grace, but he still sounds kind of mean to me.

Am I allowed to pecieve it that way? I mean, what keeps me from getting too sideways sometimes, is fear of God, not his love:D

But if you believe in the everlasting spirit, our time on Earth is just a nanosecond, so it was not all that great of a sacrifice considering Jesus is living the good life up in Heaven...

If religion is a matter of perception, which I think it is.....I can think it was mean of the old man to off his son.

:D Or can't I?:(

I've said it before but if God is perfect, there would be no need for him to sacrifice his son, seeing he would make all the rules.

I admit it's a perception issue. :)

John 15:13
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

Among humans in this Earthly life, this is very true and the ultimate sacrifice. Oddly enough God calling his son home, does not seem to have the same impact on me as if you believe in an afterlife (which I do), it's possibly just a transformation to another form of continuation and a step forward.

LOL. You're good.

Clever and sneaky to boot. :D

Me sneaky?- naw... ;)

So what? God can't have a mischievous side too?

You think it's easy being God?

The usual explanation is that Jesus's death is symbolic and ment to either teach us a lesson or somehow cleanse us of our sins. I'm a little foggy on the concept but I believe the cleansing is an ongoing offer as long as you acknowledge Jesus and ask to be forgiven, your good to go. Just be sure to check off all items on your evil list first. I take that back, if you forget something, get 'er done, then ask again as long as you are sincere, no problems. ;)

God is perfect. We are not. In the OT animal sacrifices were continuely made for the covering of sin. Christ was the ultimate sacrifice, which is why sacrifices of animals are no longer needed. Sacrifice is an outward offering of our heart to God. Ritualistic ... it is symbolic of 'showing' our heart, but many went through the ritual but their hearts were not right ... which is what Christ set straight ... letting all know it is not the outward ritual of sacrifice but the inward and true sacrifice of the heart that matters to Him. So now not only do we continue to sacrifice things to the Lord by how we serve others, but we also offer ourselves to the Lord so that we may be used by Him. We serve God with Christ as our final sacrifice - perfect and holy - covering our sins and allowing us direct access/personal relationship with God. The curtain torn, no separation, no need to go through a Pope or Preist, etc.
