SO LONG DALE!

I sure the writers for this show have a plan, but for the purpose of plotting out the show and trying to parallel it with the comic,
Dale's Death
seems like a waste. I realize they were making a case that the one voice for staying civilized, just got snuffed by the reality of the new world order.

Comic Talk:
What's interesting is that in the comic both Dale and Sophia are still alive at this point. I find I'm missing one of the major characters in the comic called Tyreese. In the show they have substituted a character called T-Dog, but mostly he has been a bystander.

I think I mentioned it before, but I find the entire discussion of "survival morality" intriguing. Was Shane right to shoot Otis? Yes it was completely self serving but the outcome was that one of them made it back resulting in Carl's survival. However the bottom line was that Shane traded Otis for himself and Carl.

=====March 4 Episode Discussion, Stop if you've not watched it=====

And last night, can they afford to trust this kid they captured after the shoot out? A civilized person like Dale says "give him a chance", but the real question becomes, "can we afford to give him a chance?" When I place myself in that situation, if I thought I had a vehicle, most likely I would drive the kid blind folded, 30 miles away and kick him out the door versus killing him. But, if I did not feel like the group could afford to do this, then the only answer would be execution.

How many here were rooting for them to shoot or hang the kid? :)

UGH it was so sad/graphic... (not sure which way you mean "worst")

Good huh? Honestly I never saw that coming. I imagined him getting his nose bit off. The point is an event like this can only be absorbed for all its awfulness if you can see it, not try to imagine someone getting their guts ripped out. Kind of like Mel Gibson in Braveheart. It would have had more impact if you had seen them pulling his intestines out. :D

If you're talking about the sheriffs kid, I'm all for it.

Lol, funny. He's not that bad... :)

Oh that wasn't a complaint - more an observation at how realistically graphic that show can be!

As for the kid... I wanted to slap him upside the head when he didn't mention that he ran into a walker in the woods. How dumb can you be. I knew it was going to come back to bite them in the butt, I just didn't know when or how!

It was different with Otis, for a few reasons I think:

1) He shot Carl (not that I blame him, that kids a pain.in.the.butt.)
2) We didn't really get to know him much beforehand, whereas Dale was a main character, and all-around good guy.
3) He was with Shane, so it was entirely predictable that he'd get screwed somehow.

It was still sad though.

I did I did!! his death was much more humane though....!

Not sure how being eaten alive is more humane than taking a bullet to the head to take you out of your misery being surrounded by your friends.

Otis got hoodwinked by a scoundrel being left to be eaten alive.

lets face it. hurt leg otis wasnt going to be marathon running anyways...

As I've mentioned previously per this thread, what makes absolutely no sense is that Shane would risk his life to help safe Otis one moment, then in a spur of a moment sacrifice him (Otis) later.

I don't think his motives had anything to do with saving Carl, that's a crock. He just wanted to get back to "his woman".

Shane is crazy, and he will explode one day--even more than he already has. He's lost his mind. Seriously.
