the epi a couple weeks back they were searching that compound and said they were scratched not bit (the dead zombie bodies) so im guessing its blood transfer? but really they are all so juicy youd think there is shit transferring every which way

As I've mentioned previously per this thread, what makes absolutely no sense is that Shane would risk his life to help safe Otis one moment, then in a spur of a moment sacrifice him (Otis) later.

Maybe because the first time he helped, he thought there were good odds of his success, but when they were being chased down the street, where Shane had a spained leg, it was do or die, or shoot Otis in the leg. Like that old bear joke, Shane only had to move faster than Otis.

I don't think his motives had anything to do with saving Carl, that's a crock. He just wanted to get back to "his woman".
Shane is crazy, and he will explode one day--even more than he already has. He's lost his mind. Seriously.

He could very possibly have fatherly feelings towards Carl, tempered with the fact that he wants Lori too so they can be a happy family. Then again maybe he only wants Lori and the baby she is carrying whom he thinks belongs to him. It's not clear at this point, but Shane is a character that it is easy to have doubts about.

As long as you have no open sores, I think there is a difference between ingesting blood in your mouth into your digestive track versus having blood introduced directly into your blood stream. Then again maybe not, or maybe it's good just for the purpose of rationalizing the difference for this show!
