I watched the PPV before Raw last night. It was.... well, it was a mixed bag of stuff. The tag match was decent, leading into Zack Ryder seeing his momentum somewhat killed off. What he has going for him is the fact that it took a screwjob finish for him fighting off both Ziggler and Swagger; not that it mattered since he got taken out even before his match on Raw. I honestly skipped past the women's match, though you're right... Beth did look pretty good. Sheamus and Christian was a let down, it just honestly wasn't that great of a match... I know it's not because they don't work well together, but something seemed off; plus I hate to see Christian lose, hell I don't remember the last time I saw him win a match. Triple Punk vs. Awesome Truth was pretty much what I was expecting it to be... a pretty good tag match with an interference finish. It moves the storyline on, but then with what happened on Raw last night, I don't know what they'll be doing with it now. Punk is moving on to del Rio while Cena takes on Truth and Miz. So I guess we move back to Hunter and Nash as the main focus, I swear it's like creative has ADD with this shit.
The World Title match was awesome. I've never seen either of those guys work harder than they did on Sunday; they had a great big man's match, and then the end was great and they both sold it incredibly well. Hell, Henry may have even Austined his way to a face turn with him yelling that he's the champion and didn't need any help walking up the ramp, and pretty much did do it in his own power. I know they've done the ring collapsing angle before, with Show even, but that was a long ass time ago... though I hated how the announcers acted like it hadn't ever happened. The WWE Title match was amazing... I have to say, it changed my opinion on del Rio a lot. I honestly didn't think he was anything more than a solid to good worker, but some of the bumps he took in that match were crazy sick, and I loved how Cena couldn't really use his moves of doom and was forced to be creative in some of the things that he did. The del Rio bump flying out of the ring and into the wall was great. Both of those guys really took it to another level, especially when you consider the state the ring was in at the time. They put on one of the better brawls I've seen in a long time.
Now, onto Raw. The opening segment and a half was great... with Hunter calling out Nash, and the back and forth between he and Johnny Ace before Nash took Hunter out on the stage. Then the scene with him attacking him again while he was strapped to the backboard was even better. The Punk/AdR confrontation along with JLtEVPoTRaIGMoR (no, I swear that isn't gibberish) demanding that Punk say he respects him was probably the best thing on the show other than the HHH/Nash segment. The tag match and the handicap match (after Ryder was taken out even before the match started) probably tied for third. I skipped past the women's match as usual, especially given how much I hate Beth Phoenix on the microphone and that Alicia Fox is one of the worst women's workers ever. I like how they're continuing this feud between Mason Ryan and Vickie's stable, even though I'm not entirely certain how it all makes sense, but it's good to see some continuity. We had our weekly Morrison gets squashed match (I'm starting to wonder if he hit on Stephanie in addition to all of the Melina shit), and then we had the most idiotic segment of the night, which of course was Michael Cole showing "pictures of JR"; just dumb shit, seriously. Then Cole challenged JR to the, well... "Michael Cole Challenge" next week, yeah that's not a trap, especially when Cole says he'll quit if he loses. The handicap match had some good work in it, and pretty much went as expected. One comment though... Creative: stop insulting our intelligence, we all know that a PLASTIC water bottle to the face isn't this devastating move that you're trying to make it out to be. All of that leads into.... the expected John Cena invitation for The Rock to team with him at Survivor Series. Yeah, none of us saw that coming at all after you guys already fucking announced that he'd be wrestling at Survivor Series. /facepalm
Overall... two decent to good shows, nothing spectacular on either one of them as far as I'm concerned.
Oh, I will note that the HHH/Nash stuff looks like there's a good chance we could see Shawn getting involved in that story. He made an appearance with HHH as a mini DX reunion at a house show last week, and there's talk that he'll be making at least one television appearance. Plus they're scheduled to release more DX gear in a few weeks as well, so why waste a perfectly good marketing opportunity.
