Re: The Official and is probably one of the best technical wrestlers arWWE/TNA thread

So who is the TNA Champion right now? Oh that's right, the walking train wreck himself... Kurt Angle. Whose substance abuse problems are probably only overshadowed by those of Jeff Hardy. :24:

Kurt Angle has put on some great matches recently especially with Jeff Jarrett and is probably one of the best technical wrestlers around. I'd watch him every single time over Del Rio.

I'm convinced Kurt Angle will die in the ring, one day. He's a great wrestler but damn if he isn't out of his mind most of the time. He's got nothing on my favourite wrestler in the whole world, Kevin Steen, I love that man dearly.

I'll give you Angle being a good technical wrestler... though he's got nothing on Punk or Danielson these days. I am somewhat surprised to hear that Jarrett is still able to do anything in the ring, he was awful when I stopped watching TNA almost 4 years ago.

I'm surprised that Jarrett is still going to be honest but his matches with Angle were awesome. I'll give you there are some complete washed up waste od space wrestlers in TNA but some of the older guys can still pull it off. Angle apparently is trying for the 2012 Olympics, brave move because if he flops, he's finnished. Wish the likes of Hogan and Sting would fuck off now please though.

I reckon TNA is going in the complete wrong direction, all they do is right off all there young, potential world heavyweight championship fighters and give the title to endless oldies who can only manage one match a month!

I used to think TNA was better than WWE like 5/6 years ago. But WWE is back baby and TNA is going to fail :p

The direction is this way because Bischoff/Hogan still think it's 1997 and book in that direction. There's nothing wrong in theory with having older well known wrestlers on the roster but only if they aren't being booked in a way which overshadows the other guys who have put a lot more in TNA. Look at the X Division PPV recently, a very good PPV which ultimately TNA didn't give a shit about, and gave the fans no reason to care about it, because the impact zone fans are retards who are conditioned to follow what TNA tell them to. This is why TNA is failing, this is why TNA is in WCW 2000 territory financially. It won't die (well, only if Spike TV don't pull the plug, if thye do that's it, TNA will die, no two ways about it) because Bob Carter bails them out because Panda Energy's gains equal or overshadow TNA's losses. I used to watch TNA lot in 2004-6 but then the whole retarded booking came along because Vince Russo somehow became employed again by a wrestling company. I still watch now and then but darn I just can't do it full time, the Hardcore PPV recently was awful, just horrible, and if I was stupid enough to live where you had to pay for it and did, I would have had to demand my money back. WWE this year have been pretty consistent in quality in PPV's and TV.

Meh, TNA has its faults but overall is still ticking along ok. WWE right now, the only thing going for it is CM Punk.

I think CM Punk is playing a huge part in WWE being so good as of late... but I generally feel that WWE is heading in a good direction. It will never be better than the 'Attitude Era' back in the 90's etc. But I've got back into it as of late after nearly 5 years without watching it :) I think its got so much talent at the moment, they just need to use it correctly.

and Miz, and R-Truth, and Mark Henry..... and a number of other guys and angles.

I agree... there's so many good angles kicking off at the moment, I hope The Miz & R-Truth stay as a tag team for awhile, and challenge for the tag titles a few times. Cause we all know the tag division is dying in WWE.

After watchings Raw's first ever Super Show last night I'm now a little concerned with the direction in which things are going...

Firstly... Making it so that Smackdown & Raw superstars can now appear on one anothers shows means the more low-level fighters just wont get any TV time surely? Both shows are going to be packed with the same 20 guys week in, week out?

Secondly... I feel that only the main 2 title belts are getting attention lately? When was the last time Dolph Ziggler fuded with anyone properly? He's not had a legit contender for that belt for months, same with the Intercontinental title? It's been thrown round all year and there has been maybe 1 or 2 feuds for it... and dont even get me started on the tag titles :p what a joke of a division! Has been for 10 years.

Lastly... I really dont like the direction there taking the HHH/Nash/Punk fued... what they've basically done is taking Punk out the title picture for the forseable future and just gifted all future title shots to John Cena (As they always do). I can see HBK returning and completing the stable.

Thoughts? :)

That's just the brand split being over for now at least. The lower level guys will still get matches, but the main event guys are of more interest and more beneficial to go in that direction with them rather than just pack Raw with the main event guys and use Smackdown for a lower card show (which I believe was an original idea).

The tag titles are about to get a bit of a push apparently, with Miz/Truth contending for them soon enough. The IC/US Titles are overlooked but in a way, when compared to the World Titles, they always have been. Maybe not always on this level, but it has happened, which absolutely should happen because the World Titles are the focal point of any wrestling company. But no, the IC title specifically has never been on par with the WWE Title, it's just it's sometimes been on wrestlers at a higher looking level than the ones we have now.

I personally see it as more likely that Sean Waltman will return in that feud and go in the old nWo direction. In terms of taking Punk out of the Title picture, in a way they had to because Punk/HHH could not have been about the Title, because it would have overshadowed that Title with the direction of the feud. Cena/Del Rio is fine for what it is. Maybe a little rushed with Del Rio cashing in when he did, but that's more to do with Nash/Punk/HHH, but Del Rio is not the worst direction they could have gone in. Far from it.

In other news Matt hardy posted a mock suicide note on a video. Attention seeking apparently but the man really should be locked up in a mental house for his own good.

Yeh I was thinking the other day that Miz/Truth would be a good team to push in the Tag Title division, I still think it's lacking the amount of teams it had like 10 years ago. Nowadays they just put random people together to make teams, I miss the days of legit tag teams, which a proper name, gimic and matching appearance etc!

I cant see what direction they would take the nWo in? Especially when I read somewhere that it's unlikely Nash will be booked in many matches this year, which means all they could do is go round causing havoc etc? Rather than actually fighting? I wouldn't mind seeing the nWo back, but they need more than just 2/3 members!

Also... I like Del Rio, but after the cena feud they just don't seem to have anyone else lined up for a push at the title? Unless they change it so that Daniel Bryan goes for Del Rio's title? Seeing as there styles are similar in the ring? Who knows! We'll just have to wait and see I guess. I've only started getting back into it over the past 3 months so I've got alot to learn, haha.

I'm about 99% positive that HBK won't be coming back, at least not anytime soon. He seems to be legitimately enjoying his retirement and spending time with his kids. Maybe a month long type thing, but I doubt he'll ever work for longer than that.

Personally, I think that the brand extension had largely run its course... it's been like that since about 2002, so we're looking at nearly a decade of it.

I'd really like for them to push the IC and US belts a lot more than they've been doing. Back in the 80s and 90s, those were treated as the second most important belts in their respective companies... now they're an afterthought. I liked what they were doing with Cody Rhodes confronting Orton and telling him he was going after him and that him holding the IC title meant he should be the number one contender... and then they buried Rhodes and DiBiase, and look like they'll have them go after each other instead. Dumb. I'm tired of them burying good talent... but at least it isn't as bad as what TNA does with their talented guys.

If Kurt Angle, at age 43, having suffered like 5 broken necks, were to even QUALIFY for the Olympics again, let alone MEDAL in the olympics again, I would consider him one of the greatest, if not the greatest athlete of all time.

Even if he qualifies and fails, it will be great because it will spark some interest in an Olympic event that hardly anyone gives a fuck about.
