Re: The iPhone/Android/Windows 7 Phone thread

Weird, mine synced right up without an issue.

Hey, have you been experiencing any battery issues? My battery went from me being able to run for practically two days without recharging, with playing 2D games and such during that time... to it going down 5% in 5 minutes of using it. I'm thinking I may just need to do a full factory reset, but I don't know if that's going to fix it. It started happening about the time that the Weather Channel app started running the GPS 24/7, so once I figured out that was the problem, I removed it and went to Accuweather, but that only seemed to partially solve the problem.

Stupid phones.

I have noticed battery issues. Not with the weather app, just in general. I sent two texts, read an e-mail, and navigated to this post and roughly lost about 4% of battery. :wtf:

okay good, it's not just me then. The only thing that I can come up with is that AT&T has been rolling out new towers, and maybe they're communicating more often than the old ones did... or come to think of it, the issue may have actually started with the last iOS 4.x update.

Re: The iPhone/Android/Windows 7 Phone thread

well the latest update wiped my iphone.

It's emptier than Steve Job's office now.

Did that to me unfortunately, but it did say something like re-setting it to factory conditions, which made me worry for a second, I thought it meant that it didn't install iOS5 at all

Did you not back it up before you did the upgrade?

Naturally, of course.

It backed up my pictures and messages, but everything else such as mail, apps, books etc went. I found the whole process a little counter intuitive and convoluted, but that just about sums up how I feel about iTunes.

I'm not worked up about it, these things happen, especially where technology is concerned.

I have to charge my phone every day. If it gets worse I might break down :(

Re: The iPhone/Android/Windows 7 Phone thread

My battery drains pretty fast, I try to turn off push notifications when I'm not using it, autolock, etc, but it's rough. They accidentally gave me a car charger and I'm glad...because with minimal-average use, I drain a battery to nothing in about 8-9 hours.

Re: The iPhone/Android/Windows 7 Phone thread

I have Samsung Galaxy S and had android 2.1 and could root my phone with super user app from market installed and z4root 1.3 from xda dev
when I upgraded from andorid 2.1 to 2.2 I could not longer root with this
I used SuperOneClickv2.1.1-ShortFuse.org installed on my computer
plugged my phone in to computer did not choose to mount sd card had usb debuggin on
ran superoneclick and ran update then selected root
it worked had to reboot phone and make sure you have super user app installed
and when you run progs that need root super user app will pop up and ask you to confir and option to remember

I can now run barnacle (share my mobile internet to wifi)

and webkey(see my phones screen via web and interact with my phone keeps me from being seen at work with my phone in my hand)

Re: The iPhone/Android/Windows 7 Phone thread

Apps I have
Journey Pro - I don't know all the bus routes in my city, so it helps
360 - For those paranoramics on my iPhone
Lightmeter - It just helps me for when I do a lot of location shots
Flickr - you have to guess what that is for
PSExpress - Photoshop on the go
PhotoFunia - just a silly app
Facebook, myspace, twitter and another one I won't mention
QR Reader - for those QR codes in the newspapers/adverts
Remote - I don't know what that is for yet, but I may wanna do some presentations
IMDB - I like looking up information on movies

Yeah I know, but at least I get instant access to IMDB rather than fumbling around the browser

Re: The iPhone/Android/Windows 7 Phone thread

I may have done something wrong. I downloaded an update. Not sure it was a legit one. It might of come from an email and without my glasses on I did not pay attention when I told it to go ahead.

Anyway now I have a blue banner at the top

and the 3 icons that were the bottom are gone. They were for hitting the dialer, text and system as I recall.

Any glues how to remove this download? I am not finding anything to do that or any way to change the banner at the top.

oye,, give me a stinking normal phone if this is the crap I gotta worry about cause now I don't know if I got something loaded that could hack into things.

I am not sure what kinda phone you have... but... for my HTC Desire it's

Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> look through.. and see if you can see something that doesn't belong.. Or if you have the email see what is says as in name and look for it in the list... if you see something that doesn't belong you can uninstall from there.

Re: The iPhone/Android/Windows 7 Phone thread

I'm trying out updating straight from the iPhone right now... got a notification that the newest patch for iOS 5 was out this morning. It was downloaded and ready on my phone, so now that I'm at home I figured I'd give it a shot. It's kinda cool being able to update the phone without having it tethered to my computer... so you could do it on the go if you were so inclined. I think that's pretty much how Droid phones get updated... but I'm not certain.
