Re: The iPhone/Android/Windows 7 Phone thread

I've never had to plug my phone in to update it, and I don't think my dad has either.

Update went just fine without a problem. :D

Then now I know for sure that's the case. You Android person you.

Re: The iPhone/Android/Windows 7 Phone thread

I just got an iPhone a week ago and had my phone contacts transferred over so all is well there. What I would like to know is while in iTunes I right click my phone and select " back up " where would the file be stored on my computer and would that file actually hold my contacts in case they got wiped off my phone for some reason?

What service do you have??? To be fair, I don't have an iPhone but I know that Verizon has a contacts back-up program installed on their phones now that you access through your My Verizon account online.

Apparently I can do it online but that isn't what I'm trying to get to the bottom of. I'm using iTunes to do what I posted about so that being the case it will be somewhere on my home computer. I don't like the idea of my personal info being stored on someone else s system if you know what I mean. It isn't that I don't trust 'em it's .. it's... that I don't trust 'em.

Neither do I. Alas.

They recently got caught for storing and recording GPS data on the locations each and every iPhone user goes. They blamed this on a "bug."
Neither do I believe the story about "GSM buzz" to explain why an iPhone for no apparant reason sometimes causes electronic interference to any tv's or speakers it's near, when it is aparrantly doing nothing. I have to think they're transmitting some sort of data all the time.

And that's why I refuse to use that sort of service. I wouldn't trust anyone with my data except for Mrs.Guyzerr, her two pussies and her Bata fish Scarlet. ( Dyson passed away two weeks ago bless his little heart )

So by chance do you know where on my computer the file is stored and what it's called?

You will not find the file..

Apple encrypts the file so that it cannot be found easily.. Just like all your music you will not easily find it.

I know on my iTouch I was able to tell it to link up my contacts to Outlook. Try that so that you can keep control of your property.. The same with your Calendar.. You need to change the options in iTunes to tell it to Sync to Outlook but be careful not to let it delete anything in either without your permission.

Unless you want to back up everything to the iCloud, your sorta screwed as far as saving data.

The "GSM buzz" happens with nearly every GSM cell phone... I've been with AT&T/Cingular for over a decade now, and have been through 5-6 GSM-only phones, and it happened on all of them... non-smartphones.

wow... really? Calling your sister a bitch? Maybe her being poor isn't the reason why she didn't want you to come visit.

At least make this a sticky...

Anyway, the new facebook app (upgrade) has really stopped the iPhone using too much juice, must of been the real cause behind the battery drain (I know the iPhone iOS5 update most probably did, but I haven't updated yet)

I have an iPhone 4 and have had no problems with apps nor low battery times

I like Android phones but in my eyes the OS just isn't as refined as it should be.

Well the recent one before the update was draining battery like hell, plus the uploads were a lot slower than before

Re: The iPhone/Android/Windows 7 Phone thread

i do get things like Facebook or my Gmail account not updating properly but i think that's more of a service provider than the phone.

Its not always the cause though, I do get the "o" meaning very slow internet sometimes over here, but otherwise it is a good service

How's your actual phone signal reception been? I've noticed mine is considerably weaker than what my Razor was and that sucks.

Re: The iPhone/Android/Windows 7 Phone thread

I hate these constant updates on apps. For the third time in a month has an app with a 400Mb download, just to update some silly little fix....I think I will leave it until next month :(

I agree and the more apps the more damn updates.. I will be removing some of those I don't use but I hate the ones that come with the phones and cannot be uninstalled.

I do mine over Wifi so I don't chew up data plan as we don't have unlimited here as well as I try to do it while it is plugged in as it sucks the hell out of the battery.. I find doing it from the computer a real pain..
