The evidence for Christians being lackadaisical in their faith is our modern society as we know it. If Christians too their faith more seriously our society would be vastly different.

i dont recall there being a requirement to committ all ten commandments to memory so you can spit them out for a stranger on the street... if somebody came to me on the street and told me nay ordered me to recite the commandments, I would say fuck off and I would call the police for harassment. god "gave" us free will to do what we please.

I'm not complaining that a lot of Christians do not take their faith seriously enough, I'm simply making a social observation.
who said i am a "serious" christian? I am always serious, but i was most definitely turned away from christianity because of people who try to rationalize and force the bible on people, like me, who want nothing to do with it because of them. Everybody has their own opinions, be it the bible, or be it that there is nothing out there after death (which i dont mind, it'll be a nice break). If the world is really supposed to end once "all of the world has had christianity preached to them" then i dont think that the world will ever end because the muslims and islams will not hear of it from a christian...

its not my authority, its the authority of the god you are supposed to believe in. The 10 commandments are believed to be written by god himself and are to be central to how Christians live their lives, yet so many so called Christians do not even know most of them. How can you seriously call yourself a Christian if you do not know the very basics of how to live like one?
well no shit. I'm just saying if you call yourself a Christian you BETTER know the basics and live your life out that way, or you're not doing what god wants you to do.
The old testament is central in many facets of belief to Christians. I thought this was common knowledge?
Have you read the bible lately? Have you had your head under a rock? The 10 commandments are among the central most important things to Christendom. Ask a priest of any sect if the 10 commandments are relevant and they will say they are.
