The first 4 are all about god and his worship.

the 10 commandments are the basic LAW OF GOD. I would say that it is an article of faith to know and follow all of them if you were to worship your god who made the laws.

Um, please show me scriptural evidence of Jesus saying "lol sorry dudes my fath-errr I mean I was wrong in thinking you guys could follow my laws".

I think the basic law of God is "Love thy neighbor as thyself". Pretty much... the rest is just a bunch of bologna.

1. placing other gods before God - Faith (arguably)
2. Carving images - Behavior
3. Using the name of God improperly - Behavior
4. Keep the Sabath holy & rest that day - Behavior & Faith (sorta)

That would be an article of memorization. You seem to know them & claim to have no faith.

I was paraphrasing. :D

I'm not interested in using biblical reference as a weapon of debate. IMO, that would be violating #3. If I thought you were honestly curious, rather than just combative, I'd take the conversation seriously.

Actually he does... there's only one requirement for a Christian:

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." ~ John 3:16

The only requiremnent in the Christian faith is belief. Not knowledge of the commandments.

I'm still not seeing AEF as the arbiter of what constitutes a "serious" Christian and what those folks need to know or not know...

maybe it's just me

I find it interesting that Christians judge those who are not.
I agree with you 100%. Christians should not be judging ANYONE, that is God's job.

BTW, regarding the whole flood thing, I do believe it was literal, and that it really happened. God still loves everyone, but that does not mean He doesn't discipline as well. That is the only explanation I have for why God created the flood - people disobeyed His rules, and His rules had consequences. Any loving parent would discipline their children, God is doing the same here.

Close but uh uh. The bible says not to judge unless you're ready to be judged - presumably by the same standard you use yourself. It doesn't say not to judge at all.

Interesting, I've never really looked at the subject very closely to be honest. Though a quick search reveals these three verses:

  1. Matthew 7:1
[ Judging Others ] "Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
Matthew 7:1-3 (in Context) Matthew 7 (Whole Chapter)
  2. Matthew 7:2
For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
Matthew 7:1-3 (in Context) Matthew 7 (Whole Chapter)
  3. Luke 6:37
[ Judging Others ] "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
Luke 6:36-38 (in Context) Luke 6 (Whole Chapter)
So the idea you presented is correct, but I think mine is as well. The Bible says "Do not judge", but it also gives the consequences of judging, which is that you'll be judged by others.
