Science Saved My Soul.....................

I believe Sadie is saying that because of her faith, the existence of God is a fact to her. There is no need for "proof", it just is. That is what faith is.

And that's fine as long as it's not expected for anyone else to have to share that faith, as faith isn't enough to make something universally true. Unfortunately, this is not the case in the world.

I don't feel like I need something or someone to believe in though, I trust in people, family and friends and in myself in bad times. Don't get me wrong, I'm not in here to make out you're an idiot, I just enjoy discussing religion and this kind of thing, I find it all very interesting.

I find it fascinating as well, on that we DO agree. I have a huge family and I believe in each and every one of them.....my friends too, they're so important to me that it's beyond words, but I believe in a higher power as well, I can't explain it but I've felt it.

IMO...an idiot would be somebody who held back what he or she believed for fear of ridicule.

If the purpose of a thread such as this one is not to have others share differing opinions, to have believers pop in and share their faith as well as non=believers pop in and question it...then what IS their purpose....to make fun?

I agree but I don't believe Sadie is trying to sway anyone to her beliefs.

And yes, some religions can be fanatical in their way of thinking, but not all.

Isn't it funny how something so simple can be at the same time so complex Aries? Brilliantly said my friend....when will people accept the fact that anything worth having is built on faith....the rest is just gravy.

I am not sure what the OP had in mind for this thread, he mentioned believers and non-believers alike so I wouldn't assume it was to make fun. As far as sharing differing opinions, it always goes further than that. There isn't much to say after someone says their belief is fact other than mudslinging...meaningful discussion usually occurs when people are open to other possibilities.

I know what you're saying and agree on that with most things. But in this case, I commend Sadie for having such strong faith. Not many people have it and it's refreshing.

TO EXPRESS MY OPINION....there, did you see that one!!! You only see what you want to see Peter, and you're not here to debate, you're only here to pick a fight.....and no it's not the same as debating because you've added nothing to this debate but your rude comments. Show me where I've thrown insults to anybody who hasn't thrown them at me first. I'm not allowed to defend myself?

if that makes me look bad in your eyes then you've got issues my friend.

........why are YOU here? Ohhhh right.....the issue thing, I keep forgetting, my bad.

Carry on Peter.

Repeatedly telling someone they have issues because they disagree with you is pretty rude and insulting.
This is the section of the forum for debate which means questioning each other not just taking it turns to state your opinion. If you want to do that, the sub forum "Ispirational thoughts" or something was set up specifically for religious people to spout their beliefs without being questioned about it. ;):thumbup

So...........this is just a place for non-believers to pop in and make fun of God and those who believe in Him, right.......because that's all you've done.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't actually believing in something the same things as knowing it as fact? I'm not in the habit of believing in fairy tales, I wouldn't waste my time. I'm pretty serious about my faith and I wouldn't tell you that I believed in something so strongly if I merely only thought it could exist. However..........I'm still loving the idea of my prince charming showing up on a white horse in front of my house, idea...lol...romance is rare but I DO believe in it.

Blind faith can be a curse or the cure depending on the outcome. Personally I don't commend latching onto an idea because it feels good, giving into emotion and refusing to consider logical based alternatives. But that is what faith frequently is, in the absence of substance, basing beliefs on ideas with the weight of fairy tales. Some skepticism is wise.

And yes, if an individual fails to consider alternatives and place appropriate weight on all of the possibilities, then the position is "blind".

Logic?:24: Show me where you ever attempted to use logic!!

Says the person who thinks something exists if you believe it does and pray to it.
If you read back the conversation on here you would see the logic and examples I have used but of course you're not here to debate or listen to anyone, you're just here to shove your beliefs downs others throat and them insult them if they disagree with you. You said as much in the stickied thread in the inspirational thoughts sub forum.

To you, my faith is nothing but a fairy tale, and that's your opinion. Maybe my opinion, to follow your mindset, is that to believe that we're on our own without responsiblity and nobody to answer to someday, is also a fairy tale. I guess we'll have to see which one is the actual truth.....one day.

It's not? So give me an example of something that you believe in that doesn't actually exist for certain.

I only believe in things that there is outside of my brain proof of so I can't give you an example of something I personally believe in that dosen't exist. I'm quite a logical person and I don't really go in for conspiracy theories, myths and the like
