Speak for yourself, Ive never fucked my sister, eaten shit or commited genocide.

In a way I guess you have...lol...think about it for a minute. No matter where we came from originally, we're all cut from the same cloth....hard to swallow when you're looking down the barrel of your own gun isn't it?...lol

So then by your definition...........love doesn't exist.

How do you mean by my definition? I never said that if you don't have solid proof of something it doesn't exist? I did say that if you don't have solid proof of something but you believe it, it's called faith.

I could say that you bite the heads off of babies and piss down their throats but it dosen't make me right. Spewing out shit in this tired manner of yours makes you look incredibly stupid and makes your beliefs look even worse.

hmm I thought we were discussing our abilities, as human beings, to have faith in something that we can't see or touch in the literal sense....and I think I've proved my point.

Fortunately, I've gotta leave and deal with some real life issues of my own....gotta take my dog to the groomer and get ready for my daughters graduation this evening. Just one last thing before I go.....we're all human beings and it's normal for us to disagree. I happen to believe in God, where most of you don't.....if you don't want to hear the same old answers then stop asking the same old questions........unless you really want to read or hear them......which I think is the case or else we wouldn't be here to begin with. God speed!;)

No, I believe I responded to your post saying that having faith in the belief that your wife loves you is the same as having faith in God existing and that he loves you.

That doesn't surprise me in the least Peter, I don't know you very well but what I do know is that you consider everything anybody else says to be stupid......when in actuality you're just feeling a bit compromised by your own inadequacies.

Why is it that you always have to throw out personal insults when someone disagrees with you?

That's funny, I thought you said that they were nowhere near alike.

And telling me I've fucked my sister, eaten shit and committed genocide isn't insulting??? What planet do you live on? :24:

If you could actually read what I said instead of making up your mind what you want to hear, I said I COULD say that.

She didn't say that to you. But whatever, there is no 'discussing' with you.

Yes she did but then you're on the side of religion and just picking and chosing what you want to and dont want to hear, thank you for showing me though that believes in god are incapable of intelligent, open minded debate but I think you got to this debate a bit too late, Sadie has already done a great job of that. :thumbup

Anybody read Horton Hears a Who and then contemplate this little blue dot we inhabit?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p86BPM1GV8M

This is why I believe there is something bigger than us...I just don't think it is a personal being with an interest in our lives and our activities/behaviors. I believe that religions and in particular the Abrahamic religions have been perpetuated as a means to control the population.

An interesting book Jesus Wars: How Four Patriarchs, Three Queens, and Two Emperors Decided What Christians Would Believe for the Next 1,500 Years- by Philip Jenkins
Though not the theme of the book, it is astounding to learn of the Christian on Christian violence of the first few hundred years leading up to the Council of Nicea (many councils convened in the between time). My upbringing was that the early christians were persecuted by the non believers and some of that is true but my God! the things they did to one another while they fought over what would be the established belief was just as bad...worse considering they were supposed to be on the same side. What is believed today has been censored over centuries...much has been added and much taken away.

I used to defend that since God is purportedly omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent that the essence of what he wished to convey through the scriptures had remained intact in spite of human tampering. That is until I determined that the whole of it is nothing but human tampering...tampering in our emotion and our need to understand things we just can't know. As a pastor once told my husband...he didn't know for sure that Christianity was the truth but he had determined it was not a bad way to live and so at the end, he wouldn't lose anything if it turned out to be false. Sounds like a fire insurance policy to me.
