Religious Inconsistencies

In order to live in peace one has to communicate and give a shit about what is around you.

That has always been difficult when dealing with other nations. Maybe with modern technology it will enlighten more to be aware of what others are like but I doubt it.

The more serious issue is the erosion of the family unit and the neighborhood unit. It used to be if you acted like a turd somebody in the neighborhood would take you to task. Now most people don't even know the name of most of there neighbors in way too many instances. And that can be blamed on many factors such as single parents, working mothers, tv, internet

For the record I am not condemning working mothers. More power to them. I grew up coming home to a mother who knew exactly where I was and should be at all times. She worked in the family business so had the flexibility to get home before school was out and always was there. If I was late from school and did not let her know there was hell to pay. Too many kids come home to an empty house and when combine with all the other social factors it has an impact. And I would not put this at the top of the list of problems. I think kids do not interact like they used to. They would rather be texting, emailing, surfing the net, watching tv, etc. rather than playing games outside.

My comment has to do with the attitude that Johnnyboy takes towards everyone that doesn't share his "enlightened" views about... well just about everything. It's absurd to treat people like that... .

Hey Twinkums - were you looking in the mirror when you posted that? :24:

You fall into the same comprehension level with you fellow traveller here:

Loving everyone is fucking dumb.

But reading comprehension is isn't. Why don't you work on that for a while?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! :24: :p :D

^^^^ Loving one another is a rather broad statement, don't you think

This type of thinking is reality denying. Man is a beast of war.

Let me see if I can clear this up...

I love cars but I don't love every car. See how you can have one and not another?

How about this one? I love vegetables but I don't love every vegetable.

See? We can apply this to many things. A blanket statement is never to be taken literal at the individual level.

We can even apply this in the negative. I hate republicans, but I don't hate every republican.

So yes, please work on your reading comprehension. :D

What the Fuck does that have to do with reading comprehension?

Jesus Christ, now I remember why I just ignore your posts for the most part.

You ignore on the most part? Wow, you seem to contradict yourself a lot :D It would be advisable to get intelligence inside yourself instead of insulting people, obviously you don't get it, that insulting people doesn't prove your point as being right, only people who are wrong insult

So please, remember we're talking about this in a Christianity thread, and one of the basic tenets of Christianity is to love everyone. Not in the same way, but love them nonetheless (love thy enemy). Which is pretty dumb.

See? Concepts.

You guys are so fucking blind sometimes. What do you guys really think a thread about concepts of religion, which have been debated over thousands of years by men more intelligent than all of us combined, can really accomplish? Oh, other than being a receptacle for unfunny religion memes.

That must've been your version of, "I know you are but what am I".

As far as I can recall, I haven't called someone an idiot or insulted their intelligence because they believe in God, are an athiest, agnostic, Buddist, Hindu, Muslim, or anything else. I have attacked Muhammad for being a pedophile, but I haven't attacked the religion because it differs from what I believe. On the other hand, you continually attack people because they have religious or even political beliefs that differ from your own. We both tend to got fired up about things, but there is a very big difference between how we go about interacting with others that have beliefs that differ from our own. If you can't see that, well... nothing more that I can do really. Hell, you and Tim seem to share worldviews when it comes to politics and religion... and yet the way he goes about discussing things is vastly different from your own as well. I respect Tim for how he goes about discussing things, and I have zero respect for you due to your behavior.

Which God?

Recently in a FTF discussion with a relative I was told that I either believe in God or I don't, it's that simple. I asked your question...

I mean think about it... If I was walking around proclaiming the virtues of Zeus, would you think me sane?

A valid argument.

BTW, why am I defending you? I support arguments I agree with regardless of the source. ;)
