Real Football (Soccer to you Yanks) Thread

* we beat the Germans, we beat the Germans*:D

But I think they were probably being "friendly" and were missing half their players;)

News from La Liga. Basically a court has ruled against a strike.

What was going to happen was one game was going to be shown on Free To Air TV in Spain (for those that don't know, Spanish teams negotiate their own TV deals) and that would have meant no money for teams in that match, so 6 teams proposed strike action against this. But now a court has said no, and the games will go ahead as normal. Which is good, La Liga's awesome.

After 9 years Jose Mourino's home unbeaten league record came to an end last night to of all teams, Sporting Gijon. 1-0 it finished. Barcelona beat Villarreal away 1-0 with Pique scoring, Valdes and Sergio got booked deliberately to miss next week against Almeria so they can be ready for El Clasico in two weeks. I think it pretty much wraps up La Liga for Barca, can't see them dropping 9 points, even if Madrid win the Derby in two weeks. Which I also don't see happening.

Real Madrid 1-0 Tottenham inside 4 minutes at the Bernabeu. Adebayor with a free header from a corner, so sloppy.

Crouch sent off for two yellows now, Spurs are fucked.

Good, I want Real to get through so Barcelona can beat them 4 times in a month rather than 2.

They were both rightful bookings in my opinion.

I also wish Sky would get rid of Ray Wilkins. He is beyond awful as a commentator. I think his main problem is he doesn't seem to create much excitement when announcing, and I also believe he lets personal opinion get in the way of announcing. Alan Parry's fine, but Wilkins should stay out of the gantry.

Not watched it, but questioning why he did

Another night of Champions League action tonight, Chelsea vs Man United at Stamford Bridge. I'd love a score draw there, tough place to go. Barcelona vs Shakhtar also at Camp Nou, I expect a handsome Barcelona victory, because the second leg in the Ukraine is 4 days before the derby with Real Madrid.
