Re: The Conservatives In Exile Club

On another note.....How many people could be helped right now with that 170 million? I mean I know this is supposed to be a bog day in history, but rather than more of Barack patting himself on the back, couldn't he maybe have.....Changed the inaugaration, saved a little cash? Suggested that people do not burn all the fuel to see him?

How much of this is funded by taxes though?

I also heard that in the past there was a different way of accounting that made those inaugurations appear to be less costly. Maybe it had to do with the cost of security.

But yeah this is a fine example of waste period. And you have a point about all the pollution caused. This could be the most devastation the earth has absorbed in one day. In more ways than one :D

Awhite president with a tinge of black actually. ;) It's not that bad anyway, I'm sure most random black dudes would make a better president than Bush.;)

Re: The Conservatives In Exile Club

today is a very sad day!
not really

it is a new beginning

While I loathe the thought of the democrats being in charge of everything I rejoice at the removal of the idiot Bush.

That pathetic fraud spent like a drunk sailor in Vegas.

Besides it won't take long for people to get fed up with the false promises and the rest of the crap that the democrats will bring.

The one thing that does concern me is the fact you can bet that Card Check will become the law. I would expect that to be one of the first things the idiots on the left will do. Hopefully the Supreme Court will find it unconstitutional.

I'm with Homo-Frog:D

I am happy to be done with the "Bush Dynasty" for a while, but I see some bad writing on the wall, encoded ammunition, excessive top-heavy government, defense budget cuts, troop reductions regardless of need, NASA cutbacks and handouts.

There simply isn't any way that he is going to be able to change what he promises, I like the idea of aiming high, but starting your presidency with this lofty self prmoting party to me is a clear indication that his presidency is more about making a statement, than making adequate policy.

I hope I'm wrong, and if I am, I'll readily admit it.

I too hope I am wrong and will gladly admit it if so.

But he promised a lot and there are many that not only expect but demand some of the goodies he promised. And when they do not get it there are going to be a whole lot of pissed off people. The ignorance of some and their expectations could bring quite a backlash.

I suspect in the end he will be more of a centrist than expected much like Clinton was. The key will be keeping congress from going crazy. It would not surprise to see a quick fall from grace given the incompetence of Reid and Pelosi. Normally I would expect the reps would gain seats in congress 2 years from now and I think they will but doubt it will be enough to get control of either the house or senate given how bad the reps screwed things up.

Re: The Conservatives In Exile Club

Here's something that struck me as interesting:

This "party" will cost the average taxpayer(s) 170 million...With an M

There is expected to be in the order of 2-3 million in the city today, and it has been said that people are chartering private jets to fly in.

On another note.....How many people could be helped right now with that 170 million? I mean I know this is supposed to be a bog day in history, but rather than more of Barack patting himself on the back, couldn't he maybe have.....Changed the inaugaration, saved a little cash? Most of the 170 M came from private donations and of those private donations most came from the very financial institutions that Obama is going to crack down on and regulate. In other words, politics as usual.

The number of people who attended was barely 1 million (and it was close) not the 2 to 4 million predicated. Well so much for a historic anointment. ;)

He can't pay for what he has promised and you will please note that the backtracking is already taking place. It has started with Gitmo and will soon expand to other stated campaign promises.

The speech today was disappointing at best; more on the lines of a campaign speech than an inaugural one. Of course, quoting George Washington lends credibility. ;)

My daughter worked one of the pre-inaugural dinners last night hosted by none other then Al Gore. She worked the VIP tables and met a lot of famous people including Al. She said he was very nice to her but she wasn't impressed. She said Oprah is a fat, real fat. :D And she didn't leave a thing on her plate. :24:

Re: The Conservatives In Exile Club

Every president makes promises he was not able to keep. I have no expectations of Obama keeping every single one of his.

I can say I haven't been happier than when I watched Bush leave in the plane with his father and others after the inauguration.

Re: The Conservatives In Exile Club

HAHA you guys crack me up!

As far as the new president goes. I have no expectations for any promises made I just hope things start to look up and change for the better.

I get really pissed off about all these people expecting things from the new pres. Like helping them out as if they shouldn't work for it themselves. It's just sad. I did vote for Obama ( DO NOT STONE ME). However, didn't vote for some reasons others did.

I did wish for a change and that has came true. The rest will come with time and over the many more presidencies to come.
