New Jersey to Ban Death Penalty

Now theres a concept.

:24:

Nothing about the legal system in America is consistant, I will agree with that. Its all about how which judge feels what way the day that someone is sentenced. I think if the prison systems were the way that they were back in the day, there would be a lot less criminals out there.....

Life sentences in a max security prison....

I work in a Max. security prison, above Max matter of fact, we have what's called ICON, they are the ones that try to kill or assault other inmates or officers, gang leaders, crazy people, etc. They still get more crap than they should be allowed to have.

To be honest, I really don't see that a harsher sentence has a lot to do with preventing a crime. USA has the death penalty for murder yet has one of the highest murder rates in the world. I don't think your average murderer is thinking about the consequenses of his actions when he does the crime.

yeah that is right. I think it is because we let the scum sit on death row for so many years. That people feel like if they do get caught they will die of natural causes. Before they ever get executed.

I don't think keeping criminals in jail for the crimes they did while avoiding hypocrisy is a waste of my tax dollars.

So we should keep herding them into already overcrowded concrete cells to sit and think on what they've done for the next 75 years of their lives? Corrections pays shit for what I have to put up with and eventually later on down the road there's going to come a time when officers are gonna say "hey, you know what? Society doesn't give a shit about me risking my life so why the hell should I?" and they are all gonna walk, then where will we all be??

Prisons are overcrowded for reasons that have nothing to do with capital punishment.

Well then, maybe we should address the problems that our prisons have that have nothing to do with the death penalty? They are over crowded because of our shit legal system and laws.

They are overcrowded because instead of spending money on new prison facilities and jails the states are spending it on museums and dog walking parks and all that crap! I work in a facility built for 1800 inmates.....we have over 2700 inmates in our facility.
