Since we're talking about lying here.... ahem. Though I do need to amend my statement slightly... it was his father's fiancée's house, not girlfriend.

It's a mistake to assume that the rest of the world is as ignorant about America as America is about the rest of the world. I stand by my suggestion that if you think your neighborhood is so violent that you need a gun in your home to protect you, you should move.If that means leaving the States altogether, so be it.

See, the problem I have being down here in this island paradise is this..... NOBODY here behaves like Zimmerman. Aside from a few carefully vetted enthusiasts, handguns are only carried by the police. One of the reasons that criminals rarely use firearms here is because our laws make it very difficult for them to steal one.


The notion that anyone needs to strut around like John Wayne is as obsolete as the Duke himself.

The same thing? You asked why the mother couldn't have identified that it was her son screaming when the altercation occurred because the home was just a few houses down. I told you that it wasn't the mother's home, as in she didn't live there and wasn't there to have heard it. How in God's name is that "the same thing essentially". It is a very strong statement, you're correct - but it's also an accurate one. Yes, we have poor neighborhoods here too. Yes we have Neighbourhood Watch volunteers. The biggest difference is the relationship between the State and the public. The authorities welcome the assistance of civilians with monitoring and observing, but any attempt at heroics by untrained and unsupported bystanders is strongly discouraged. In a country where the default position of the police force is 'unarmed', and handguns are unavailable, there is no place or justification for vigilante-style amateurs like Zimmerman.

Manic depression? Can't help you with that one,maybe it's just that we're a little better at identifying it, but I wouldn't call it common. Wow, you really got your head up there. Police report, witness that took picture, etc... The defense only has to prove that Zimmerman's story is more likely than not. Do the math. Unless the prosecution can produce proof to the contrary then GZ's story stands.
