They do so with ETB and moreso when they had foodstamps. They used to with WIC but have become more open to what you can buy food wise. So why not be able to regulate welfare? But that also brings up another debate about if they do it with Welfare should they do it with Social Security?

You make a good point. Interesting how WIC is very strict- it says on the check what the person can buy. Yet EBT has almost no restrictions. In fact, in NY at least, some people with EBT can withdraw money from their card and spend it as they wish.

I have to admit, we have a lot of clients on disability for depression...I have worse depression than a number of these people and I would never dream of trying to avoid work because I feel like shit. That's just me, though, it's different for everyone, and I know depression can get extremely debilitating.

I'm okay with people requesting assistance for depression, provided that they're also seeking treatment. I'm not an expert on it but know that it sucks the life out of people, and most people I'm sure would love to work rather than deal with the hell of depression.

The clients we have, it's a sickening joke they receive money. They're all I'm speaking on, because I can't speak for anyone else.

Kyle... They probably get a 10 dollar deposit thats like cash from the state that they can spend however they wish. Before they switched over to the card it used to come in the form of a check just like supplemental income used to. (I'm still not pleased with the switch to manditory direct deposit.) You can still ONLY buy food with your "food stamps"

When I worked at a supermarket, it was almost always $200 dollars that was replenished at the end of the month. Now that you bring up the supplemental income, I'm not sure if it was connected to food stamps or just put on the EBT card for convenience.

You need a drug test before you post. Get off the glue.

Before you get all hot and peeved, understand the post.. If you have difficulty reading the point was made in a sarcastic tone.. Before you judge someone understand what angle they are coming from..

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If I have to pass a drug test to get my minimum wage job, every politician in this nation needs to pee in a cup once a week. Or better yet, give a hair sample every two weeks. Considering they run this sinking ship I want to be damn sure they are sober while doing it..

Yeah, that's gonna happen. Drug tests are for the peons.

Right... When they implemented the EBT card they made it so both cash and food withdrawals are on one card. I only get 10 bucks but others may get more.

But we're not talking about jobs, we're talking about those who collect welfare.

That already passed down here. Want benefits? Pass the test. If you pass, the state pays. If you don't, you do and lose benefits for a year.

Funny on that one. I do believe our new governor is running them through the clinics that are now in his wife's name. Tho, since it doesn't apply to me and I haven't been following it closely, people may have realized the conflict of interest there and had that changed. But I don't think so?

Once again, the tests are for the Peons. In this specific post, the big guys reap the profits. Once or twice removed of course.

You are a drug taker, a legal drug taker but one of the hardest drugs around. Bit hypocritical stance of yours here, really.

But I sit don't around all day drinking and collecting benefits. I drink when I socialize. There is a big difference and yet i need to bring it up again. It's legal. Hypocritical? Maybe. Do I care? Not really. You continue to do you though besides does this issue even affect Britain?

Reality is...there's alot of addicts on the system. Liquor is a depressant and there's loads out there that can't make it thru the day without it. Is it right...no....should they receive assistance because of it....no, I guess not, but it's "legal".

There's no easy answers. An addiction is an awful thing that has ruined many a life....it would be nice that those afflicted got help and all would be right in their world, and those that care about them.

I would love to see a hard and fast answer, but it's just not possible.

So your saying you wished they had not had that money and than they would not have needed your services so you to would have been unemployed ?

Oh an the last time I was able to even feed myself on $200.00 was back in 1985.. Not sure how much you eat but $200.00 does not go far in diaper, toilet paper let alone food..

I and a lot of people take drugs when we socialise

So I take it you would be in favour of burning children at the stake for defacing a coin seeing that was once legal, up untill the government changed its mind because the government is ALWAYS right, even when they change their mind? BAA!!!

You dont care that you're a hypocrite? Speaks for itself about you and you ability to be rational and add sense to a debate.

"You continue to do you though besides does this issue even affect Britain?" - what does this even mean?:eng_mofo

My only worry was when my mom was applying for it. The woman is nearly dead, and if SHE didn't get accepted and this girl (age 20, mild depression, just has no motivated) gets it, I was going to kill someone. Luckily she did.

My mom is in the process of appealing the decision to turn her down for disability. She has arthritis in her arms and back as well as knee and feet problems. She can't lift more than 10 or 20 pounds and can't do any repetitive motions. She's also less than a year away from being on Social Security anyway, LOL But her ex-husband's 3rd wife has been on disability for decades b/c she's a drug addict. *rolls eyes* She also used to work at a local Community Action Agency and saw multiple families w/ 4 kids and they would all be on disability for ADHD collecting a shit ton of money a month while mama's sitting in there whining that she can't make the rent that month (mind you, the rent was $50 b/c it's housing authority!!!).

Are you freaking kidding me?! Parents collect money off disability for their kids having ADHD???? I have a child with ADHD/ADD (yes both) and he is just fine. NO WAY would I want to label my child as disabled for that.
