We aren't much different on this.
I don't have a tax plan to consider other than any increases in taxation should be spread over enough time to allow business models to adjust and not drive investment monies out of the US.
I think there should be no further expansion or creation of entitlements till the nation is once again economically safe.
Why tax increases?
Govt spending has increased 40 times since the 60s.
You do understand that tax increases are a burden and stunt growth correct?...which will require more entitlements

I understand it fully...Govt spending has increased 40 times since 1960..Since I do not support such then label me a neo conservative socialist or whatever else comes to mind.
Truth still remains..govt spending needs addressed....then the tax code... in that order.

TM.....you really don't know what you're talking about.
Your previous post was jabberwocky.

govt spending needs addressed....then the tax code
Now you admit the tax code needs to be addressed :D

I also want add that proper investments are always needed. Proper investments in education today will lead to more revenue later. It's not much different than investing in your own personal future.
The problem is that government isn't very good at making these investments. So that needs to change and my belief is that by removing money from politics it will go a LONG way to correcting this problem. We need an entire new batch of politicians that work for the people and what's good for the country, not what will add another million to their re-election campaign.

Indeed. That's why revenues and outlays are graphed as a percentage of the GDP.

I need a translator...:D
Obviously
As govt spending has increased 40 times since 1960
And you agree to or propose tax hikes?
You need to go cut your nuts...you have turned liberal left langy loot on me.

The problem is spending not revenues....unless of course you think we are not over spending and an increase in spending 40 times since 1960 is what we should be doing?

See stone...IMO you dont belive what you are posting...you are merely only disagreeing with me as tim is.
I thought the honeymoon would be over and the divorce in process...but you appear to be loving this left lifestyle..you should be shamed

Why tax increases?
Because of the massive debt that recently accumulated.........it's even represented in that graph I posted.

You're talking out your ass again.
If taxed too much, of course.
But Bush cut taxes too much and it's been shown that those tax cuts are not creating jobs in the current economic scene.

You are just blabbering, TM......same old rhetoric with out any mental input.

Here is what you posted:
And to further much govt spending is actually included in the GDP...if we subtract that we actually are lowering the GDP {bad}

Are you a moron?
We spend 10 grand a year per student as it is.....as we can see its not working.
This money could be spent on cutting the nuts out of those that are clueless.

If you dont understand it then there is no reason to try and further educate you on the matter.
Also....
Did you know that Govt spending has increased 40 times since 1960?
We have a spending problem not a revenue problem.
You think the rich are undertaxed in relation?...I will agree for the sake of arguement
then lower the taxes on the other brackets to match....NOT RAISE TAXES on the upper bracket.
40 times stone....40x since 1960....spending has increased 40 times since 1960.
lets reduce spending and cut taxes on the OTHER brackets.

I'd like to see moderation come back into both parties, but polarization seems the way to get elected these days.

Agreed.

I like pragmatism ....but see so little of it in government policies.
The Bush days were insane and Obama not much better, just different.

But wait...some brackets pay no income tax and get back refunds........never mind cant cut any further there.
Which means tax cuts for the middle class..which I think we agreed to many day ago.
Would that make you happy?...rather than raising taxes on the rich.
Spending has increased 40 times since 1960....we can make some spending cuts for sure.

And you agree to a tax hike?
You do know that tax hikes slow growth...and that we have very high unemployment at the moment.

it is easy to determine what tax rates should be raised to.

the hard part is the cuts

show me the cuts first

that has never been done before

and don't start with the baseline budget bullshit

start with spending from last year

...
40 times stone....40x since 1960....spending has increased 40 times since 1960.

Let me ask you a few questions TM.

1. Do you know what the percentage of federal spending was compared to the GDP in 1960 vs to today?

2. Is spending as a percentage of GDP going up or is it going down?
