Aren't there any other subjects besides science, such as humanities???? then why all the stress on science when it comes to 'proving' God???

There is no stress on science to prove God, it is up to religions to prove it if they decide it's real. However, science is what provides us with answers to how things happen that we previously thought were the affects of a God. We now know better than to think 'lightning! God must be displeased!' because science has discovered the cause. It would be very difficult to use humanities as a subject to work out the causes of natural events.

God has kept humans at arm's length by not telling them more than needed. this is because that if humans come to know all about God every humans would declare to be a God in his own right and the mightier ones wouldn't allow the weaker to live....

Are you saying that if God made himself known to humanity, everyone would become Gods themselves? Are you saying that the knowledge of something can grant people superhuman powers? If that were true, why aren't Christians out fighting crime and saving small children from trapped wells?

Mysteries of God are best known to God himself....or let Jesus return to tell the disbelieving hearts more about God or they Go and meet God or Jesus where ever their 'Science' can find them. Needless to say Jesus , Moses, Muhammad did exist and denying their existence would be denying history or George Washington or Lincoln and that would be ipso facto absurd ....

I don't doubt that men like Jesus did exist. That doesn't make the religion based around his teachings somehow infallible. I could start my own religion tomorrow, since I definitely exist - does that make me the daughter of a God? No one is denying that religious leaders have existed throughout time. Just because they existed though, does not prove that they were right.

So who can you trust? Science and Scientists? :p:p:thumbdownNO!!

So.... because scientists can openly admit they were wrong and are willing to review their proofs and documents, they are untrustworthy, in comparison to religions which refuse to accept that any part of their argument might be at fault?

Science is ever changing, and yes, that means getting it wrong and trying again, and going over things until you get them right. If we stuck with one scientific idea and never challenged it, we wouldn't have half the advances we do today. What has changed in religion over the thousands of years since it began? Nothing. You don't evolve, you don't adapt.

It's the same regurgitation which skeptics usually forward to assert supremacy of science over religion. Why don't they 'prove' there does not exist any God rather than ask those who have a faith in him and believe in his diverse 'manifestations and signs'' which are yet beyond scientific mind??

Relief that religions are providing to the common people is more than that science can do....People can live without science but not religion....go figure!

I doubt if you can even start a deli shop lest declare yourself a prophet!! Go ahead the world needs a prophet who can bring peace to world that your science hasn't been able to do !!!

Science has done only what is already there..!! Nothing new...there should be more things, many more things which science still doesn't know about!

Tell your science to make me an apple...can you??

That's not what science is for. Nature makes the apple, science explains the processes involved in making the apple. Science isn't here to build, or to destroy, or to construct. Science is here to explain.

And yes, science can fully explain how an apple is made. And the apple tree. And in fact any fruit you care to think of. It's not magic. So it that sense, science can make you an apple because science gives us the understanding to put a seed in the ground, grow an apple tree, and enjoy the fruit the tree bares for us.

There are things science doesn't know yet, this is true. But the far majority of phenomenon on Earth are covered very well. There's no magic going on down here.

There is NOTHING wrong in religions to admit they are wrong, it's only what YOU think because of your ignorance and materialistic approach!!

Explaining is one thing Creating is another. I would deny the existence of God if science can explain it's non-existence by mathematical proof!

Inventing something is not the same as explaining the invention, growing apples is not the same as crating its seeds or creating the apple itself! Unless science does that religion will prevail......let religion boggle the skeptic minds who cannot see with the ''eye of their heart'!!

I am just curious- what was it in what HK stated about facts of science evolving and changing make you come up with the notion of a materialistic approach? :humm:

It is an impossibility to prove something does not exist. It's a logical fallacy.

If you think about it, you'd have to look under every single atom in the entire universe, and possibly beyond, to prove something doesn't exist.

What science does is show how things really work. And that in turn leaves less space for God.

For example, people once worshipped the sun god. they used to think it it hid behind the earth at night. Science explained this isn't the case, that actually the earth revolves around the sun, and the earth rotates so half of it is in darkness.

So that took God out of the day/night situation.

People once worshipped the seasons. But now they are completely understood to be in relation to the earth's position from the sun and the tilt of the Earth on it's axis.

Another situation God has been removed from.

And if you follow history and science and look at every discovery made over the past 500 years, you'll see that everything that was once considered a miracle, supernatural or the work of the divine, has been explained thoroughly through scientific means: that is: testable hypotheses, confirmed observations and repeat experimentation.

Actually, millions of people live without religion every second of the day. If it were not possible to live without religion, there would be no such thing as atheists.

Science on the other hand, has provided us with medical advancements that save lives every single day. Scientists find cures for diseases and technology that helps us improve our living conditions so that we can live longer. Arguably, none of us would live as long as we do without science, whereas religion makes no difference whatsoever.

See my post above, you cannot prove something doesn't exist, it's not possible.

As I said, nature creates the seed. We understand this process. There is nothing magical or supernatural about it. The same with the Earth, we know how and when the Earth was formed. And there was no magic involved. Just the 4 fundamental forces of the universe, time and some matter.

I miss Sadie. I genuinely want to know how god shows himself daily. If part of your religion is opening the door to others about god, I don't get why you won't elaborate. This thread sucks =[

Maz, are you trollin' or truly believe what you type?

Science serves only your materialistic needs, Religion both spiritual and ''materialistic''!!
Without religions there would be no code of life....but merely a race dependent on ''tool of human exploitation' called science!

You still don't know exactly about Time and Space....and Void. Nothing has been created by science, which just tries to explain what already exists. Ever occurred to you where 'already that exists' came from?? Who created all this Universe and everything in it?? No, science cannot tell that...how sad!

Has your science found a cure for Death??

People were borne and died when science was still in its cradle!

Why don't you mention the billions who believe in religion??? Even those who apparently don't believe in God like to discuss Him the most. that clearly speaks about their complex!

No and science doesn't claim to create anything, though it's worth pointing out that the computer you're using to post here is one of the many benefits of scientific inquiry.

Science is getting further and further back in time constantly. There are now very good theories, theories that check out very well in mathematical models, about how the universe, and thus time and space came to be.

Scientists are working on a way to create a universe in a laboratory. They're happy with the experiment in theory, and I don't doubt for a second that this will be achieved in the future.

We still don't know if there was a "who" involved in the creation of the universe. There is this possibility. But this kinda blows apart current thinking of God, because that's the only place where there is left for him to exist. He didn't create man, he didn't create the Earth. He may have possibly sparked the big bang... only time will tell...
