You mean you'll either take short hand on the video or copy and paste rght?..lol..Don't you have an original thought of your own? NO thanks.....I've seen the video and others like it, and they don't change anything. Even some of the greatest scientific minds in the world would agree that while they can't prove that He exists, they can't prove that He doesn't either.

''I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do because I notice it always coincides with their own desires.''Susan B. Anthony

Just wanted to share. Also, Ripper stated two or three times (I stopped counting) that he has no proof of god not existing. Just an FYI. Go back if you don't believe me.

Which is more than I can say for you sweetheart. It's ok to admit that you don't have tangeable proof of something....considering the topic, it's pretty much expected. But when you claim to have factual scientific evidence and then all of sudden back out...lol...please!!
......

You're being unfair Sadie. Ripper never once claimed to be able to prove God doesn't exist. You put those words in his mouth. Ripper only said the proper way to prove something is with scientific evidence. A point I agree with.

I will address the issue of proof but first I need to define the term "claim". A claim is a statement of something as a fact or an assertion of truth. The statement "I know God exists" is a claim. The statement "I believe God exists" is not a claim.

In this thread you made a claim. You said you know God exists. It's not unreasonable to ask for proof when someone makes a claim. That's how we learn. You don't have to provide proof. But failure to do so will leave skeptics doubting you know what you claim. It's unreasonable to ask the skeptic to prove your claim is false. It's your claim.

For example, if I told you I can hit a hole in one on the golf course then it would be reasonable (but perhaps impolite) for you to say prove it. It would be rather silly (but perhaps understandable) for me to retort prove that I can't.

I don't mean to be impolite but it is very difficult not to say prove it when someone makes an extraordinary claim.

Wow this thread is just sad lol.

You see, UNLIKE religion, science is falsifiable, which means it accepts when it is wrong. Science is a reliable way of explaining phenomenon, because it is objective, tested, replicated, peer-reviewed, impartial, unbiased. Science continually advances and adds to the knowledge base, it is ever-changing. Religion is quite the opposite...in other words, irrational, biased, in la-la land, they THINK they can rebut science but they can't because they use irrational forms of persuasion. While irrational persuasion forms are convincing and help people sleep at night, they are not logical.

If we use the same 'logic' as a religious person, that god created the Earth, and they say every building has a builder. Well then every thunder must have a thunderer. Every earthquake must have an earthquaker.
God is just a lame excuse for everything. You can believe there's a creator, but he does not control any part of this universe. Maybe if you look up what causes earthquakes you'll find out. Just cause you can't find a cause, doesn't mean it's god. You wish.

Oh and also, if the bible has been falsified, doesn't that mean it might be pointless even looking for confirming evidence that supports the bible? The bible is made up, and no surprise, those old farts who wrote it were probably bored at the time. It's not hard to make up a religion and follow it. Children do it too :dunno

You can believe there's a creator, but he does not control any part of this universe.

It would be reasonable for Sadie to ask you to prove that claim. ;)

It is not outside the realm of possibility that God occasionally exerts some control over this world but only when no one or at least not too many people are looking. I don't believe he does because his existence is not necessary to explain the operation of our world. Occam's razor suggests we drop the god hypothesis so I do.

If God exists then it seems to me he's hiding and I can't imagine why he would want to hide. So yeah, I'm an atheist.

Things like god are hard to prove via a scientific method. What would one do? Say "If God exists then he will set this paper on fire when I say 'go'"? It's things like evolution that falsify religion and god.

I don't remember who now but someone recently posted a video clip of a comedian who said, "If God exists may he strike this audience dead!" lol He didn't prove anything but he made me laugh. :)

That is a myth, actually. No one ever thought the world was flat except peasants and lower level people in society.

Ever since Hellenistic Greece, people accepted that the Earth was spherical.

Scientists may have believed in the Earth's flatness, but what did I say about science ever-changing and growing its knowledge-base? I'm sure they don't believe it now, science is much more advanced these days, they know the Earth isn't flat now for so many reasons.

All I'm saying is, it doesn't matter what used to be thought, it's old, and out-dated. All it's good for now is a bed time story...like religion :D

Sorry, I'm kidding :p I know I'm mean ;)

Gawd...you sound like a school teacher..."But what did I say about...":24:
Anyone who believed in a "round" earth, back in the day when it was believed to be flat, would have been ridiculed the way anyone who thinks "outside of the box" is now....much like in this thread....unfortunately, they werent around once it was proven to say "HA...told you so"

and what did I say about things NOT being proven by science YET.....maybe its us who are more open to the maybe's who are the "enlightened ones"...rather than stuck in linear thinking and not open to other possibilities.;)

BINGO....you think a LOT of what science has "proven" now will still stand true in say 100 years?:p

HAHA how dumb to think that Pluto is a planet and not a star.;)....
