I was talking about the attitude not the desire. If you are open minded and wanting knowledge, you wouldn't have made up your mind firmly cuz there is always a possibility to the opposite truth. If you say that evolutionary is a proven fact, I can say the same about Jesus.

So have no set beliefs? Then what are you doing believing in god? You seem to be pretty dead set on his existence, come on man be more open minded!

Look, theres facts that back up evolution, there are no facts that back up the genesis account. If there are some I'll be glad to look at them.

Micro-evolution is very widely documented and scientifically accepted. The only proven fact about Jesus is that there once was a guy named that.

Jesus is not just a guy's name. Facts about Jesus is widely documented and accepted as well. Even some scientists are convinced that God exists.

There's no factual evidence Mary was a virgin. No evidence Jesus walked on water. No evidence he came back from the dead. All we have to tell us these things are stories that were passed down by word of mouth over generations.

Jesus Facts (Jesus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia):
Most scholars in the fields of history and biblical studies agree that Jesus was a Galilean Jew, was regarded as a teacher and healer, was baptized by John the Baptist, and was crucified in Jerusalem on orders of the Roman Governor Pontius Pilate under the accusation of sedition against the Roman Empire.[2][3] A small number of scholars and authors question the historical existence of Jesus, with some arguing for a completely mythological Jesus

Everything else "known" about him is pure belief.

Everyone was a virgin once and I don't see how that matters. There were witnesses who saw Jesus walked on water that's why it passed down from generation to generation. I don't think back then, they have camera to catch the moment.

Yeah, but how many people have had a kid while they were a virgin? The Immaculate Conception is one of the main building blocks for your religion and you say it doesn't matter???? That makes no sense.

As far as passed down stories, have you ever lined 5 people up, told the first guy something and had him pass it down the line? By the time it gets to the end, it's a totally different message. Now imagine that over generations.

People did document the facts, it's not purely told by people. There is this book called Bible and organisations like the church. Yes it does matter that Mary is a virgin when she had Jesus but back then there was no way to prove it, plus she got a husband.

Do you honestly believe that either one of those sources is unbiased?

There are reasons why things stay for such a long time? Lets say if a culture doesn't work, people will be pushed to change it. If there is no need to change it, doesn't it mean it works at least in some ways for a majority of people?

So, by your reasoning all religions are right? And what about the culture of atheism, I bet that's been around a long time too.

I am not saying everything that's been around long enough is true but if you look at the reasons why christianity has been around for so long, you will see that it has valuable reasons. Plus, experiences can't be argued. If Jesus makes people's lives better, more righteous and fulfilling, why not believe it?

I'm not saying you can't believe, I'm just explaining why I can't believe

You can if you expose yourself to the Christian environment and try to understand what they have to say.

I went to a Baptist church for 3 years every Sunday from 8th grade to 10th grade. Religion isn't for me.

It takes time and some sort of experience to really feel God. I am praying for you.

Oh, there have definitely been times when I believed in and thanked god (damn mortars :) ).

Seriously though, if me believing was important to god, he would make me believe. Otherwise, he can't get upset if I choose a different path.

I believe he will one day. Kiss kiss. Jesus loves you.

There are also people that claim to see leprichauns and that myth was passed down from generation to generation, whats your point?

Yeah, those reasons being the need to belong to something and the idea of false comfort. Its human nature.
