What if you're wrong about the other gods you reject?

I've never looked at it as I'm rejecting other gods. God is God. People from different countries refer to Him by different names. I feel that He's one, and the same.

You may be confusing my comments by taking this conversation down another road.

On the flip side, the topic is, "Do you believe the Bible to be fully true?", so, maybe I'm the one who's going down a different road here.

In any event, I believe. :)

I personally cannot bring myself to put my faith in a book written by humans so long ago. Not to mention if this book was supposed to be the word of god...why has it been revised 5 or 6 times over the years...you do not revise the word of god..if you do it no longer is the word of god.

However I do not have anything against people that do place their faith in a book...just don't try and ram your beliefs down my throat
It hasn't been revised.....?

Wouldn't a true, full fledged Christian do anything to prove their 'Holy' Bible?
Not necessarily. I could spend my entire life working to help prove the Bible, but if that's not what God wants me to do, I'm not gonna do it. Every Christian has different responsibilities, and at this point, becoming a Biblical scholar isn't one of mine. :)

If you dont believe it was meant to be fulfilled back then, what exactly was the point of it? I'm sure the Egyptians back then couldn't give a shit about something that wasn't meant to be fulfilled for at least another 2-3 thousand years.
What was the point of the prophecies about Jesus a thousand years before He was born?

I think there's a big reason for prophecies, and these are just purely based on my own reasoning, so don't hold it as the truth - just think about it with me.

Prophecies are meant to help people believe in the Bible. All throughout the Bible there are prophecies that have been fulfilled, and, especially for those who witnessed the fulfillment of those prophecies, it helps people to believe in the validity of the Bible.

I believe the end times are coming soon, within a few generations would be very likely, and when it does, there are many prophecies that it will fulfill. God will still give people a chance to turn to Him and believe during the endtimes, so as more and more prophecies are fulfilled, more and more people will believe.

I believe that with this particular prophecy regarding Egypt, if it has not already been fulfilled, it will be fulfilled during the end times, and for the sole purpose of getting more people to believe.

I certainly could be wrong too, because I haven't been in Egypt for the last 3k years. Like I said before, the prophecy may have already been fulfilled and just undocumented (or not well enough documented).

So what Bible prophesies do you think we should be looking out for to be fulfilled in the near future?
Read Revelations. :thumbup

Or see the chart below, which includes many of the old testament prophecies.
Old Testament End-times Prophecy Chart

I'd expect to see every single one of those prophecies to be fulfilled in the "near future". Within a millenium at the most, but my best guess would be less than a couple hundred years.

I have read revelations, mate. Unfortunately the only thing I could conclude from that was that John was having a good acid trip!:D;)

So, if I said:

"Man will someday live on the Moon. I think it's gonna happen at the most a millenium. Maybe the next one to two hundred years though."

And that's going to be right soon.

Will I then be recognized as Mathew the Holy prophet when it comes true and the bible is re printed?

WOW, i am kinda shocked that Sloth hasn't receive a warning yet for not only being ignorant, and bashing other people's faith, but he also is using a racist word. The admin needs to either give him a warning, or hit that ban button.

Two points of correction to the above. No matter how rude the member was, ignorance and faith-bashing are not grounds for bein warned or banned. If I am wrong I will apologize but I bet it's not in the forum rules. Hell, I willc critisize anybody's religion all I want. It's call freedom of speech.

Some people wish to spread their faith, its up to you to listen. However, you are simply being a hypocrit. If you want to be the better man by your standards, you should just ignore them and continue on. For Christians, they want to spread their word in an attempt to save peoples souls. Even if you do not believe in a God, atleast their intentions were originally good ones. Even if you have no interest in hearing them, you dont have to be a dick. Simply say you are not interested, walk away, and live your own life. You counter-preaching is just the yin of their yang.
Your post wasn't directed to me but I have to respond. It seems as if you are implying that one is obliged to listen? Why? How can one ignore them if they pound on your door on a Saturday morning and ask if you have let Jesus into your heart? What if I say I am not interested but they persist? Why are they so agressive and persistant and ignoring my request to leave my property that I have to threaten them? Why do people have the right to post here saying the bible is the "truth" when they won't even acknowledge the real meaning of the word? I have every right to dismiss them as biased and misinformed and I have every right to tell them to bugger off if they persist with their fairy tales. I have even a bigger right to tell them to shove it if they use their selff-appointed superiority to tell me I am wrong and I am lacking in morals if I am not a christian.

I have posted this elsewhere and I will repeat it here so that there can be no misunderstanding. Yes, a person has the right to believe whatever they want and they also have the right to express that belief but they don't have the right to claim it as the truth. Truth implies proof and they have none. They can claim they have faith but those two words are mutually exclusive. You can't squeeze apples and get orange juice.

No, but if you made a thousand or so prophecies and they all came true, I might believe you. :)

I agree that the pounding on door nonsense is ridiculous. Heck, I even get annoyed when people do that and I have to tell them I'm already a believer. Everyone has the right to their own beliefs, and shouldn't be forced to listen to the other side if they don't want to.

However, I have the right to claim that the Bible is the truth all I want. You don't have to listen (or even read about it), nor does anyone else on this site. I'm not sure where you get the idea that I (or anyone else) doesn't have the right to do that... it's called freedom of speech. :)

And I think the point about Sloth is that he was being exceptionally rude and vulgar in his posts, neither of which would be condoned by this website. I'm not sure what the exact TOS say, but every forum I've visited in the past and present have always had some kind of unwritten limit on the amount of rudeness/vulgarism a particular person can post, and I'd imagine this one does too.

I didn't say you or anybody didn't have the right to claim that the bible is the truth. What I have said and valley refuses to recognise, is that the use of the word "truth" implies proof. You can claim all you want but without proof it's all just balderdash.

The Bible has been proven to me, so I don't think it is wrong to call it the Truth. I understand what you're saying, but I think we'll just have to agree to disagree on this. :)
