Yes we share a lot of DNA with Chimps, as much as 97%, but you must remember a couple of points.

A) Most of our DNA is junk, it has patterns that recur & seem to have no real value, so we probably share alot of this junk with them... but

2) Around 3 to 5 million years ago we shared the same ancestors, theirs stayed in the trees, while ours were forced onto the ground probably due to drought-caused deforestation.

I know this wasn't directed towards me...but come on. How is having a personal point of view close minded?...
easy - when one consistently and onstensibly refuses to entertain another line of thought.

My way or the highway. Vichy's the worst, you're bringing up a tight second (althought you lightened up once many moon ago), and Minor is right there with you running third

Do you happen to know the quote, something like "the earth is round"? Unfortunately it does not do much for this discussion. I was just curious. I did find this unsubstantiated quote online:

Aristotle argued circa 322 B.C. that the Earth was round based on the shadow it cast on the moon during an eclipse. Others also noted that when ships sailed from harbor if you continued to watch them they would seem to "sink" below the horizon.

The following is a copy/paste from a google find. I glanced through Job, but turned to google before I got to the end (which of course would have been where the verse I was looking for would be found). Enjoy.

In the Old Testament, Job 26:7 explains that the earth is suspended in space, the obvious comparison being with the spherical sun and moon. [DD]
A literal translation of Job 26:10 is "He described a circle upon the face of the waters, until the day and night come to an end." A spherical earth is also described in Isaiah 40:21-22 - "the circle of the earth."
Proverbs 8:27 also suggests a round earth by use of the word circle (e.g., New King James Bible and New American Standard Bible). If you are overlooking the ocean, the horizon appears as a circle. This circle on the horizon is described in Job 26:10. The circle on the face of the waters is one of the proofs that the Greeks used for a spherical earth. Yet here it is recorded in Job, ages before the Greeks discovered it. Job 26:10 indicates that where light terminates, darkness begins. This suggests day and night on a spherical globe. [JSM]
The Hebrew record is the oldest, because Job is one of the oldest books in the Bible. Historians generally [wrongly] credit the Greeks with being the first to suggest a spherical earth. In the sixth century B.C., Pythagoras suggested a spherical earth. [JSM]

But it adds weight to common ancestry for those having problems with the theory of evolution. If they refuse to open their eyes, it's their loss. I don't have a problem with not believing, as long as they don't try to force it on others (which has been a religious tradition since the beginning). BTW, this comment is not an accusation about anyone participating in this thread.

Obstinate? Obstinate?

1 : perversely adhering to an opinion, purpose, or course in spite of reason, arguments, or persuasion <obstinate resistance to change>

Dude you have a LOT of nerve calling me obstinate. Moderators, help me, the pots are calling the kettles black!
Calling someone else obstinate assumes your reasoning is more reasonable than others along with a self assigned feeling of superiority. :) I suppose the ones who aren't obstinate are the ones you agree with... Plus I've never called you a name like obstinate, although I might think of some. ;)

I believe in complete science and God made it.
If you go back and back and back to the beginning all the way , well how did that happen.
Ok an explosion of a star, well what about the other stars, ok there are multiple gallaxies
well were did they come from.
everytime scientist say we came from apes they prove by studying bones that we didnt.
And then they say we did and then they say we didnt.

I don't think I'm THAT bad. But, when it comes to fact: Evolution. It pretty much is accept or hit the bricks. Sorry if that sounds bad but its just how the world works. We evolved, we have mountains of evidence, people should just get over it.
