Might be the G-spot, come to think of it...
I know this wasn't directed towards me...but come on. How is having a personal point of view close minded? Also there are some things (that we know so far) that can ONLY happen is certain things are met.

I'm going with God creating the world us and we didn't evolve.
I'm going to try and not sound like an asshole but: Do you even know the very basics of what encompasses evolution? Serious question.

I don't get why people think "god" just because we do not 100% know how all of "this" got here. I think its just a big leap.

Look, if I were to approach you with a theory about how a large empty void with no matter or energy was suddenly able to physically transform into the boiling turmoil that is the Universe with no outside assistance.... You would tell me I was off my rocker!! (rightfully)

Who's making the leap here? :cool

Ok, I accidentally hit the c key instead of the g key, big deal. But anyways, they knew it was round before the bible.

I looked up the Greek ideas you're talking about. They came 900 years after Job was written.

FWIW, I wasn't teasing you about the "Creeks," I just thought you knew something I didn't. :)

Silly me. :D :jk

The thing is, this void contains every single thing needed to create life. In the video it talks about fatty acids and the like present in the universe. its not just :nothingness: and thats it. There's the building block of life there.

I think you're making the leap. You believe an ever present power that has always existed with no explanation physically made the world and took some dirt, blew into it and BOOM! people! I'm working with purely natural causes that are explain with what we know.

Science is the study of God's creation. If scientists want to try and figure out how God created us, I say more power to them. I'll find out the definitive answers soon enough. ;)

Science and Evolution has nothing to do with God.. the dude is an adults imaginary friend.

the idea that man came from monkeys seems far fetched? well Its more plausable than some silver haired hippy in the sky making everything by magic...

Combination of both evolution and GOD.

It may have all started with a sesspool of unicellular organisms.

Yes. Your distant ancestors may be unicellular organisms.

Humans evolved separately from the great apes of today.

You would believe how long it took me to convince my bible believing fiance of this. I tried using Dawkin's river analogy but that failed miserably. The only thing that worked was describing it as 2 brothers named charlie (father of apes) and stan (father of humans)

A lot of people have a problem with this, I have no idea why. if anything, it just makes us more unique and special.

But who's to say that all this started from an empty void of nothing? We can sit and contemplate the origin of the universe all day long and never come to any conclusions. We are still a very young species that will spend eons trying to answer all our questions, some as basic as the origin of the universe. This is precisely why we have religion, to fill the void of the unknown. Thousands of years ago, it was Zeus who made lightening, yet today we know better. We know that Mt. Olympus is not in the clouds. And in another 1000 years, we will know that there is no God. But until we have gained enough knowledge to realize that these are nothing more than silly superstitions we will have to deal with it.

True. I would no more look in the Bible for directions on how to do brain surgery than I would look in a science book for directions to heaven. I said nothing to the contrary so I don't quite know what you are on about.

You don't believe in God ... that's your choice. I do ... that's mine. ;)

What I want to know about evolution is, is it still happening and if not, why not?
I mean, I know it happens over millions of years but surely scientists would be able to find some proof, however minor that it's still happening?

Actaully Pete, there is some evidence for continued evolution today. There was a breed of Lizards (I saw this a while ago & I think it's lizard) living in the UK, I think, that has now split into two breeds. There needs to more study done to be sure.

The one point that I wanted to make to the atheists in this whole arguement is why are we using logic, data & facts to try to convince a crowd of people who have already admitted that they have faith in their beliefs. Not proof, not evidence, no facts, just a belief in superstitious, supernatural rubbish & yet we keep on coming back for more. Why?

It's in the book of Job. Even thought the book of Genesis is the story of the beginning, it wasn't actually written first. Job is the oldest book in the Bible. Something like 1500BC.

Do you happen to know the quote, something like "the earth is round"? Unfortunately it does not do much for this discussion. I was just curious. I did find this unsubstantiated quote online:

Aristotle argued circa 322 B.C. that the Earth was round based on the shadow it cast on the moon during an eclipse. Others also noted that when ships sailed from harbor if you continued to watch them they would seem to "sink" below the horizon.

Because God is the easy explanation. His/hers existence wraps up all the questions into a nice little package. And humans have been doing this since the beginning, before the "God" there were all sorts of Gods for our species to imagine. The only people who refuse to accept even the possibility of evolution are those who have placed all of their bets on the Bible being literally correct when it was never intended to be a scientific history of the Earth and humans' existence on it. Those videos you posted show that evolution a pretty safe bet for open minded people.
