For the record I did not serve

My draft number I do not recall but they stopped the draft right afterward

I will state straight up I would have done everything legal to get out of serving and having to go to Nam

If I had been drafted I don't know if they would have even accepted me but I sure as hell would have done my best to convince them I was not going to be an asset in the field. Not at my size.

I would have done it covertly though. I would have waterboarded if the situation called for it. And I would say that was still legal because it was determined legal at the time. Lots of things are done that are accepted as legal and then the courts or legislature determine later otherwise.

I know you from another debate forum and I think you're being upfront and honest.
I had strong issues with the Iraq invasion and the torture at Abu Ghraib.
Still do, but my comments are at that other forum.


When someone I know that I debated up to the point of being banned .....does a flip flop for convenience in debating.....it pisses me off. It's not honest to the forum and if I'm going to call hypocrite on others....this needs to be brought out, too.

If he were smart, imo.....he'd request the thread be closed and eventually beg the administration to delete the thread.

I would have thought eyesight was not a dis qualifier. Unless you were near legally blind. Seems like I have seen pics of the war with guys wearing glasses.

On a side note I knew a guy who was all set to go into the CIA. He was accepted and as he was leaving was asked to come back that they forgot to check something. They tested him for being color blind and he failed. No CIA

Yep. They tested my glasses for index of refraction and I didn't meet the standards.

No....but I've always been extremely near sighted.

My best friends brother who was 2-3 years older than us went to college and was able to defer. But had to serve after college but by then the war was winding down and he was able to stay in the states
