Well yeah I am in total agreeance with the fact that they need to be secured. I think a temporary worker program would do some good. They come here for a week (With papers), work for a week, then go back for a week and come back the next. During this time they can apply for citizenship.

Americans have no idea what it is like to struggle. Our poor are the world's rich.

Unfortunately we do have a problem in this country with children going to bed hungry every night. Just about every town and city has area's where families live well below the poverty line. I'm sure it doesn't compare to some third world countries, but we are one of the richest nation's in the world. There is no reason that any child should be without the basic necessities.

Felons that keep coming back in over and over, terrorists that are coming over, etc. are not committing misdemeanors.

My Dad was a customs agent on the border. He had a bounty put on his head for all of the felons that he caught. It really pisses the drug dealers off when you keep putting their guys in jail. So no offense, but don't tell me about people having hate over others committing misdemeanors. My wanting the issue dealt with in an extreme manner has nothing to do with Ma and Pa looking for a better life.

It is not the average illegal Joe immigrant that is coming over here that I am most concerned with, even though I do strongly disagree with their first act of wanting to be an American citizen, to be an illegal one. It is the front door invitation to terrorists, drug dealers, mob, etc. that our borders being like sieves gives that I find to be most wrong.

Entering our country illegally is a misdemeanor and as a misdemeanor isn't punishable by death.

I truly appreciate the service your father has provided to this nation. For the most part it is a thankless job that needs more recognition. But let me ask you this, if the law was changed and your father was legally able to shoot the worst offenders if they crossed the border, let's say that drug dealer that put a bounty on his head... would he be able to just shoot them?
I fully agree with doing everything in our power to stop the drug dealers and possible terrorists. I believe we should give the brave men (like your father) and women who protect our borders the tools they need to get the job done. Stopping those who want to harm this country or just to live a better life. But to even entertain the possibility of using deadly force to stop illegal entry is absurd.

If the laws were changed that it is legal to shoot people trying to cross the border, would you be able to do it? Would you be able to sleep at night knowing that someone else is doing it for you, for us, for the nation? Maybe I look at things differently because I try to look at things as though they are really happening and I am the one doing it. I know that I could never shoot at someone breaking the law unless it was to protect my life or another's, but we already have laws in place to cover that.

I don't want you to think I was attacking you in my previous posts... it's just that I was a little taken back by your stance on this after knowing your walk with God. No one will ever be able to change any one of our views... maybe I'm just asking the question, "If it really came down to pulling the trigger or not, would any of you be able to do it"?

Nope... I wouldnt be able to do it... I wouldnt know how to pull the trigger.

Well we could just put you in the tower with the rifleman. You could just point to the ones you want shot. Could you do that?

If that was my job, yeah I would do my job.

It's ok if you don't want to be honest about this... I know a lot of people, and some of them are down right crazy, but I highly doubt that any of them are capable of shooting another person that is posing no threat. Whether it was their job or not.
