I think a women who has an abortion should be tried the same as if she had killed a born child.

If you are going to charge with women with murdering their fetus, then you had better think about how you are actually going to catch them. You would have to catch the woman in the act, and women will have their abortions no matter whether it is illegal or not. You would need more police (to search for these women), more forensic pathologists (to match the DNA of the fetus with the DNA of the mother), and you must also explain how you would even find a dead fetus. In the garbage? Do you search every garbage can, do an autopsy on the fetus (to ensure it was aborted) then test it's DNA and keep that DNA in the databank until you come across a woman who happens to share that DNA?

It would be next to impossible to charge a woman for having an abortion.

Murder is killing which is unjustified. Abortions are unjustified (most of the time), so most of them are murder.

Mudrer is the unlawful killing of a person. By law, a fetus is not a person, therefore, abortion is not murder.

And yes, I agree with you that there can/will be complications if abortion was made illegal. There would have to be exceptions for when the mother's life is in danger, or something similar. Other than those special circumstances though, it should be completely illegal to have an abortion.

One question: Would you make an exception if the woman was raped, or a victim of incest?

Think about it this way People... We as humans are animals physiologically and sometimes mentally... Do you know some animals can abort their fetus' naturally? Why should humans be able to have this option? I see no difference.

Some animals also rape and murder other animals, that doesn't justify man doing either one.

Abortion should it be legal?

I had to do some moderating and unfortunatly deleted the original thread started on this topic feel free to continue your conversation here......

heres the ops Question

I'm just curious: do you think abortion should be legal or illegal?

Re: Abortion should it be legal?

That thread got deleted just as I was trying to reply to Peter, so Peter, you seemed to have a little trouble understanding what I meant by my statement. If you could tell me what you didn't understand, I'll clear it up for you. :)

Re: Abortion right or wrong?

Legal in the cases of rape victims and serious health problems, illegal in the case of stupid girls getting so pissed they didn't use a condom, your problem, you sort it out without resorting to murder.

Re: Abortion should it be legal?

Because we are all in different countries, could you tell us if abortion is legal in your country, and if so, what is the cut off point?

Over here, the law changes in September mean that abortion on demand is available up to 24 weeks. After such time, the woman can abort with the permission of two doctors.

Re: Abortion should it be legal?

In the US - abortion is legal, but the "cut off" and other regulations vary widely by state.

The more conservative the state, the tighter the regs.

Availability of clinics that offer to perform the procedure also varies. In Lousiana for example, I understand that there is only one clinic in the entire state. In addition, there are no doctors available at that clinic on a regular basis. Doctors willing to perform the procedure fly in from other states one or two days per week.

A friend of mine had a baby at 26 weeks gestation!! He turns 4 later this month!!!

Even if I was pro-choice, I'd be against a cut off later than 12 weeks.

Re: Abortion should it be legal?

Personally I think it should be.

Of course some people have a problem with it, that's fine. The operative word is choice.

Which is the staple of the society we live in.
