Then how come it is against the law to spank a born child and leave a mark? Shouldn't that be "nobody's business"? What about parents murdering their born children? Shouldn't that be nobody's business?

It all falls under the same category IMO. If you think that morality is a church-only issue, fine, but at least be consistent.

Because the children are ALIVE.

A fetus is not alive.

Can a fetus breathe?

Can a fetus say 'Daddy'?

Can a fetus hug you?

Can a fetus disobey you?

Can you touch a fetus?

Can you hear a fetus?

Can a fetus speak?

No
No
No
No
No
No
And
No.

Killing something that is not alive is not even killing.

And here's a question for you Mr Smart Ass christian.

Would you rather a child be brought up into a horrible, poor home with a 16 year old mother, no father, barely any food and a shitty house?

Or

Would you rather have the child not even be brought into such a shitty place?

You really get yourself more wound up about these things than you need to. A fetus is alive in my opinion, and you'll never change my opinion on that. I don't care if your definition of alive is being able to breathe and say "daddy'.

And my answer to your last question there - I don't see it as any different from a child who is already born who is in the same situation. Should we kill them because their living conditions are substandard? Absolutely not! And I take the same stance on fetuses!

A fetus is alive, and that is undeniable. It must be alive or else it would not grow or mature, and would never be born. Something dead does not live, does it? So the fetus must be alive, but it is only alive because it is attached to the mother. If it were detached, it would die. It is alive only at the womans expense.

those that are for abortion are against those that are against and visa versa, so its best to step away from the subject

I believe that a woman has the right to have an abortion if she is raped or is to young to provide, however I don't think abortion should be used as a type of birth control that would be unethical

Of course not which is why better sex education is needed to encourage people to use protection if they wish to engage in intercourse.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

HA

Thanks for making my day.

It is COMPLETELY deniable.

Based on your logic it is murder to cut down trees or dig up flowers?

It is COMPLETELY possible for something to go from not living to living.

Okaaaaaaaaaaaay. You dont think a fetus is alive? Dosen't your school teach Biology or something?

Of course they do.

There is a certain point in the pregnancy cycle in which the fetus is considered actually LIVING.

We know that.

What we don't know is where that point is.

It seems that you're switching freely between the scientific definition and legal definition. In science, cell replication is a sign of life.

Can you explain the connection? Because I don't see it.

Because a tree or plant grows and matures. But it's not REALLY alive.

It seems that you're switching freely between the scientific definition and legal definition. In science, cell replication is a sign of life.

This is because I actually believe in both ways.

It's a sign of life, but "possessing signs of life" and "Being alive" are different things.

Unless you can agree on what a word means and stick to that definition, any conversation is pointless.

Of course plants are living things. They're not rocks. You seem to be confusing life with sentience.

Plants are living things. But not "ALIVE" by scientific terms. Science defines being alive as moving, breathing, etc.

What I'm saying, is that YES a fetus moves (kind of) and consumes food (at one point)

However it is not "ALIVE". It merely possesses the signs of life.

There is a point where scientists have widely agreed on that it is illegal to abort after, I'm relatively sure that's when the brain forms, I could be wrong. Maybe it's the heart or a different vital organ.

Even bacteria are "ALIVE" by scientific terms. You'll understand when you reach high school & take biology class.
Life is defined as the condition that distinguishes organisms from inorganic objects and dead organisms, being manifested by growth through metabolism, reproduction, and the power of adaptation to environment through changes originating internally.( life definition | Dictionary.com) A fetus is not dead, and certainly isn't inorganic.

Understand that law is made by politicians, who seldom, if ever, rely on science alone to base a decision. The legal definition of human life is a wholly political one, completely separate from any scientific definition.

*cough* I' m finishing year 12 this year *cough*

The argument that scientists make is that it is not DEAD, however it is not ALIVE.

I was just reading this thread and you all brought up interesting points.

I am from Ireland and abortion is illegal here, regardless of circumstance, the only legal way to have an abortion here is if the life of the mother is at risk, up until a couple of years ago even getting information about abortion was illegal.

Unsurprisingly many Irish women travel to the UK for abortions, and we have a high teenage pregnancy rate also. However I dont agree with legalizing abortion.

Education is the only way to go, we need to put more money into educating our children because this will be a hell of a lot cheaper than supporting countless teenage parents and their unwanted children.
