You're No Hero

My name is Alicia, glad to meet you...that's who I am, thought you already knew. You have a lack of knowledge...and there is where your immaturity shines.

James...is that you? LMAO

i lack the knowledge because I refuse to put myself in a situation of that nature. And i refuse to learn the difficulties of a addiction and recovery because i just don't care. I've had a woman light up a crack pipe in my apartment while I was in another room. Pardon me if I find druggies to be low on the human evolutionary ladder.

Are they any higher on the evolutionary ladder than those who drink to much?

I'm ignorant because I think that druggies shouldn't be held up on a pedestal just because they kicked their habit? And i don't think tax paying people should be paying for these addicts to go from one addiction to another? Get the fuck out of here.

there was a while up here whered you hear every other week about a fucking Methadone clinic being broken into.

 I sure do see a lot of bleeding-heart conservatives in here....

For the record, I firmly believe that all addicts and illegal immigrants should be used in live-fire training exercises for our military. :D

I do think we need to legalize drugs though:eek

That is capitalism and conservatism at its best. Make money where it is to be made.... All while reducing govt.

Yeah, but a real conservative would never want to help some little person like an addict improve their life, especially at tax payer expense

you wrote too many things to quote so i'll just do the ones that stood out to me :)

This is really bold to say, and again not everyone is the same and there are some people that have motivation to be rehabilitated.

Sorry typo in the first one I geuss.. I was saying alchohal isn't as dangerous as drugs like cocaine because you can get addicted or die the first time you have cocaine.

Second point, most people are only in treatment because otherwise they would be in prison. There are only a select few who aren't. But I was saying it in a bold way, because it was a simplified sentence made to get your attention. AKA, only 10% of who we have in treatment would stay in treatment if it was legalized. That's almost no one compared to how many people we have in rehabilitation now.

I don't believe there's anything to back this up other than your own opinion.

Here's a challenge for you: Pick one sentence out of the ones I bolded and back it up with facts from a reliable source. I'm willing to bet you can't. I'll give you all my tokenz if you can back all three up.

My mom works at a drug rehabilitation for the state, and 90% of her clients are there because otherwise they would be in prison.

So then it's HER own opinion. Has she done statiscally valid questioning and arrived at that figure? Or is that an anecdotal phrase that she repeats because it's her perception?

And how many drug rehab clinics are there in the US? Is what happens at the one where your Mother works automatically the same at every other one?

You embolden the one before the BECAUSE part. Alcohol can be more dangerous--but you never get hooked the first time you try it and it would just be Darwinism if you died. However, alcoholism can be just as or more dangerous then any other mainstream drug.

As for the rest, I asked my mom the other night when we originally started this debate and she told me 'about 90%' are there because otherwise they would be in prison. I can call them and get more accurate numbers though (I would, but it's too late to call here now)

Your mom isn't in a position to give valid statistics for anything more than the one place she works. You can't make broad sweeping generalizations about the rest of the country based on data from one location, it's scientifically invalid.

She hasn't had the current statistics in a while. She isn't in charge of knowing them. They were the current statistics about a year ago :D and then just from experience with her clients she knows that the majority are there because otherwise they would be in prison.

No her's would be different because it is a state funded non-profit. But the majority of drug users go to non-profits because they don't charge money, and most people can not afford the big time expensive ones rich kids go to.

The majority of drug rehabs are non-profit, and the majority of there clients are there because otherwise they would go to prison.

I am not saying all rehabs are 90% cliental that are there because of prison (just as my mom's rehab), however, I am saying that a large percentage of people in drug rehabs are there because otherwise they would go to prison. If it was legalized, the majority of recovering addicts would drop out.
