Why do you read books?

well the question is clear do you read books for pleasure, to escape the world or as a "therapy"?

Biographies and Autobiographies really. I am not the quickest of readers so getting deeply into something is time consuming

I've always read, I have and always will enjoy a good book.

Although since I've been at Uni I have so much reading to do I rarely feel like reading just for pleasure anymore.

I read for escapism which is why my genre of choice is fantasy, any thing by the Eddings brothers Anne rice is an old favorite and terry Pratchett for a laugh also read every thing by Dan Brown but his getting a bit laborious now.

Actually I've never tried to read something before sleeping coz if I'm taking by what I read I'll never fall asleep lol

That can happen too, I find that regardless of what I'm reading. The act of reading calms my mind down and makes it easier to just doze off.

Becuase I'm a literature student. Lately most things I've read has been stuff I need to read for my course. I also read a lot of psychology related books for my couse and because it interests me.

Other than that I read for escapism and pleasure.

i think people who don't like to read just haven't found the book they like

either that or they have a learning disability that makes reading hard. and practice will make it better!
