I consider myself an atheist, because I don't believe in anything that has to do with religion.

I don't believe in religion at all, I don't even think that religion is something that any God created - religion was man made, in my opinion, just like the Bible.

I do, however, believe that there is some kind of greater power somewhere out there, I just don't think it has anything to do with God, Allah, Jehova or any sort of religious thing. I want to believe that we are not on the very top of the chain, because that would be very depressing. Everyone needs something to believe in, I guess. :)

MY OPINION...BEWARE!
God doesnt exist. The human mind cannot comprehend life ending completely, or even evolving from a microscopic species. Humans need something to tell them to be good people, and abide by rules. Why else would we have so many laws to "protect us" from bad things. Religion is a tool used to keep humans in line.

This may just be me, but every post by Sam has made me want to vomit. Why must you try to "sell" us religion? When priests stop raping little boys and actually practice what they preach, then maybe the rest of us won't be so discriminating against you church-goers.

I think it is because Sam operates under the belief that we all really believe in God, it's just that some of us are either too stupid or too slow to realise it.

This is a very common arguement that pretty much states that regardless of what you believe now, you will at some point (possibly on your death bed) come to the conclusion that God really does exist.

It is the only way some people can come to terms with those of us that don't believe - after all nobody has ever proven that God does not exist.

Interestingly enough nobody has ever proven that he does.

The moment you take a doubt on his existence no matter how long you pray or you be nice to the rest of the world he won't give a damm to you..
This is something Sam said. Now when I was a Christian, this is not how we were taught. I was taught that He loved you unconditionally, even if you were a non-believer. And if you ask for forgiveness and accept Him, then you are forgiven. God didnt turn his back on you for doubting.

Christianity is inconsistant, in my opinion. There are so many branches of it....so many extremes. I think that if you are a good person and you do the right things within your life, then you can say you lived a good life.

And then you die. Period. There is nothing else. There is no paradise, no castle in the sky.

That is my belief. I may be wrong, and if I am, the HE will judge me. Not you, Sam.

Well Theologically, And I can't quote it, But disacknowledging the Existence of God is supposed to be the unforgivable Sin.

which, Your right though, it does not blend with the teachings of bare before him and all sins are forgiven.

the thing you cant deny in chritianity is the holy ghost. They say that os the one unforgivable sing. Wow thats interesting. You can deny God and Jesus but you cant deny the holy ghost, the one thing no one knows what it is, the one thing you cant prove exist of doesnt. Sounds like a clever way to keep people from questioning something that sounds like a disney movie. hmm fairy godmather, fairy god father, holy ghost (maybe its just my warped mind). Not to knock anyones belief but when you can deny jesus and be forgiven (the backbone of christianity) but burn in hell without redemption for not beleiving in a ghost that is barely even talked about is weird to me

hmm... Lets see.
I believe in God and in Jesus. However, i personally feel that god is a bit of an anus if everything in the Bible is correct. Which leads me to believe that the Bible was not written by god but by man and that nothing in the Bible should every be taken seriously.

However I believe in the idea of Jesus: that there was someone in this world with no sins or wrongdoings and always did the right thing. Jesus doesn't even have to be real. I'd still believe in him, because its the only thing I feel I have left to lead me through my life.

If you look carefully at the life of Jesus, you will find a man inconflict with the, then, customs of the Jewish faith. There were many things that a good Jew had to do regularly & all of them cost money. It was difficult for poor Jews.

I think that Jesus was a part of a group of people who wandered the land telling the poor that they could find God everywhere & did not need to go through all of these expensive rituals. There are many stories that seem to confirm this. The leaders did not like his ideas as it allowed the poor freedom & stopped some of the synagoges income.

Jesus may have been an extraordinary man but he was no God, or son of. I think he, & his group, were great thinkers who fought for individual freedom, especially for the poorer people.

Yes, I am an atheist but I still believe that Jesus lived - there are far too many pieces of information not too - but all this does not make him a God, just a good guy.

I believe in God. I believe that Jews are the chosen people. I believe in the covenent that Abraham made with God. I believe in the words of the Tanakh, celebrate Rosh Hashana, pray on Fridays, all the jazz.

I believe, but that doesn't mean everyone else does. I'm accepting of that. I believe that religion has the oppurtunity to grow and evolve.

I believe it is healthy to debate, when we fear arguing against others beliefs, we can’t get anywhere. As long as the debate does not get violent.

Which denomination of Christianity teaches that? I've only ever been taught that if you deny Christ it is an unforgivable sin. But that is only if you deny him after you've accepted him. So, Budhists and Jews really have nothing to worry about. :)

I believe that what ever a person believes in very strongly comes true for him!. Like, say I believe in god, then god exists for me and vice versa. I ve had couple of such experiences actually. I would get confused thinking on things which existed according to some people and dint according to others. Both seemed so true!. Guess, its cause things exist for people who believe in them strongly!
