Everything in excess is bad, but thats a given.Which is why Grace pointed out that moderation is the key. Too much soy can be bad as well.
I also have ethical issues with meat.

I have recently discovered Quinoa, a South American grain that provides all the essential amino acids. Look for it

Oh geez, no I am not. I just personally think that vast amounts of resources are used to supply soemthing that is totally unneeded and avoidable. Are you going to be one of those crazy vegetarians who throw red paint on people and harass them for eating meat? My sister is one for ethical reasons but as long as we don't give her a hard time, she leaves us alone.
I homemade many meat alternatives.
Tofoturkey is good and so are Boca burgers.
A handful of a certain legume has more protein in it than a large steak, actually. vegetarians also eat dairy products, so there is absolutely no problem getting protein at all. People have been vegetarians for thousands of years, they must be doing sometimes right. Plus, your body absorbs protein from vegetables better and more efficiently than it does with meat. You are generalizing too much there--certainly many people do have an unhealthy diet, but it is due to too much meat and/or the wrong kinds of meat. A diet of lean meats, grains, fruits, and vegetables is much easier to make healthy than a vegetarian diet. The problem with a vegetarian diet is the lack of useable protein (unless you are consuming a significant amount of eggs, milk, cheese and other diary products). Vegans have a helluva time getting enough useable proteins--you have to be very strict with your diet.
As people already pointed out, moderation is best--human beings are intended to be omnivores--with a healthy dose of fruits, grains, and vegetables. You certainly can get a healthy diet as a vegetarian, just takes more discipline and more time, which most people just don't have.
Fatty meats = more cholesterol = fatobeisity isn't due to over consumption of meat more as the chemicals that go into commercially processed meat and just sheer laziness. I'm overweight and I can tell you I could be alot more active. Homosapiens as a whole have been consuming meat since they showd up on planet Earth.
I don't care if you think it's right or wrong or we could do with out it. But I need a balance of meat and vegetables are natural and always have been. I eat alot of meat and I don't have diabetes, and i doubt ill get cancer and My cholesterol is below what it is supposed to be and i know this because i just had it tested.
I have vegetarians and vegans.
wait whatWell you say one thing yet you look as though you are trying to force your point on people. It's a losing battle. It's cool that you want to go vegetarian if thats YOUR thing. But posting random facts isn't going to convert a lot of people.
I'm a vegetarian. I used to eat meat, not until I read about Albert Fish and saw a frog get beheaded in an Asian store. So, I don't eat meat anymore because I'm disgusted and because I feel bad for all those animals being raised for human consumption. Anyways, it's really healthy becoming a vegetarian. Even though meat has a lot of protiens, it has a lot of saturated fat too. So you'll be cutting off a lot of fat. Also, you'll be gaining more nutrition from the greens you're going to consume. I also suggest you start taking multi-vitamins. Don't cut out cheese and eggs because you get a lot of protients from there. I hope you choose to do it in a healthy manner because there are still many unhealthy foods out there that are vegetarian friendly.I'm thinking of being a vegetarian, after a long personal debate. Any vegetarians on here?
