I have never been searched, but I have a friend that went into a police station because of a divorce....they ended up having her there for several hours and strip searched her....all because of a divorce. I feel it has just gone to far sometimes. I understand you never know where things will be hidden. (i.e. the guy with the bomb in his underpants), but come on now. Can we at least keep the searches PG instead of rated R. don't we have metal detectors..seriously. Just my opinion, but do with it what you will.
NO. The "More absurd" is the TSA demanding a woman to REMOVE her prosthetic breast and show it to the TSA agent in full view of other passengers.
I cheer the move to strip TSA of it's powers.
Why go to private security? You would end up taking the cost of security and adding it to the price of the ticket and the private security would need to follow the same exact rules as the TSA... So how exactly does this help the traveler?
And another thing... The politician that is pushing this idea in Florida has taken large campaign contributions from the company that wants to do the private security. So this is most likely a payback instead of doing what's right for his constituents.

The airlines are exactly the ones that should be paying for their own security, and they should pay for it by whatever means they can, short of government takeover of their security system, as we have it now. I'm completely unconcerned if this is payback. With each airline choosing their own system of security, it would become another way for them to compete for market share.

The reason to go private is that privatizing saves money. At least that has been what I have seen in my parts. No reason to privatize if it is not a cost savings. Typically the company that comes in hires a good portion of the govt employees that were doing the work originally. Just shows how inefficient govt is when a private company can do it cheaper and usually better
