Ummm...yeah...not that kind of brake problem, unfortunately. Mine was the expensive problem. I knew it as soon as it happened. They didn't make any funny noises. Just nothing happened when I hit the brake peddle. My brake light also came on, which indicated a brake fluid issue. I'm just glad it happened in a parking lot and not when I was in the middle of traffic being cut off.

I took it in this morning and the back brake hoses needed replacing as well as the bleeders screws. glavauzid.png

Wow, you were real lucky..

Most good places will check the brake lines when they do your Oil change but many quicky places skip that step.. Unfortunately dealership can also skimp out in today's in an out money factory machines..

That said, could you have hit something on the road that may have damaged the break line ?

No, apparently this is a common problem with Mazdas and Fords. My front brake hoses gave out a few months after I bought mine in 2008. Now the back ones went. I figure I've got that out of the way now.

Not sure if it's ALL Fords. He mentioned Escapes in particular. Doesn't hurt to have them checked, though. Brakes are not something you want to malfunction while you're driving. I'm actually pretty lucky. Both times that this happened to me I first noticed it as I was leaving a parking lot. Took it easy after that and drove like a granny until I got home. :p
