OK, so I am frustrated, pissed off, embarressed and all that crap. I watched that overdue mare like a hawk last night and she did nothing. I stayed until 7:00am when the day crew came in just in case and she was still doing nothing. On my way home I stopped for breakfast at Timmies. I got home, took out my contacts, changed into my pj's and was just going to settle down on the couch to eat my breakfast when the farm owner called. One of the mares who was due next week had foaled and she asked if I would go back to the farm to help out a bit. I feel like such an idiot! My guess is that mare foaled around 6:30am but I missed it because I was paying such close attention to the other mare, to the exclusion of everything else. It's times like this that I feel absolutely USELESS at my job. I'm being paid good money to work nights so that the mares don't foal unsupervised and then this happens. glavauzid.png

I think I'm going to suggest the name Shenanigans for this foal (it's a filly :D). I think there were definitely shenanigans going on because this mare foaled out of the blue. Was NOT expecting her to foal until next week. :willy_nilly:

Back on the frustrating note, the mare I was watching so close last night foaled this evening at 7:30. So I missed another mare foaling. WHY THEY HATE ME????? sad057.png
Just an update on this. :D Popular belief was that the mare that I missed foaled after 7:00am some time. While I would still hold myself responsible in that case (because I should have seen the signs) it would make me feel a bit better because she foaled after I got off work. I had my reasons for believing that she foaled at 6:30am, though and when I got to work tonight I went through the video from that morning. I was 100% correct. She foaled at 6:30 and I'm responsible for the whole thing. :D Of course it turned out to be a normal birth and the foal is perfectly fine so no harm no foul but still...unacceptable.
